Queenbee....if you haven't yet, take some measurements of waist/hip/bust/thighs etc so you can check that as a measurement too. Any kind of improvement there when you don't see the scale move will be a reminder that you're making progress. If you can, assess body fat too...maybe others can speak on this, but they have scales and stuff that measure it and I don't know how exact they are compared to a caliper type skin fold method, but they are probably reasonably accurate. My sis found one at Meijer on clearance for like $17.50 for a scale that does water/body fat/weight etc assessment. Just make sure you look at the big picture. It will help keep you motivated.
Also make sure you use the Nutrition Tracker and healthy lifestyle measurement scale on here to make sure you're getting enough calories, the right kinds, etc.
Keep it up! If you're able to run longer, lift more, etc you'll know you're making a positive improvement! The scale will move eventually too!

Another thing to consider, Queenbee025, is not very obvious: are you not eating enough? Are you consistantly under your reccomended calorie range, or burning way more calories than your state goals? Your body may be shocked, and retaining weight out of fear of starvation.
Like everyone before me said, muscle gain is another good possibility, especially since you're working out so hard. If it's muscle gain, don't worry - you'll get over the hump because your metabolism will skyrocket. You can get through this - just stick to it and don't despair.

When I got dressed for work this morning, my pants are tighter! I've lost three pounds so far and have been doing really well (except I went over my calories the last two days, +600 Wednesday and +200 yesterday--supper with the family is killing me). I've been exercising six days/week. I know I'm building muscle, so I've decided not to weigh again for a few days. I think it takes your body a while to show improvement. Muscle is replacing fat and the scale might not show a change, but YOUR BODY IS GETTING HEALTHIER. Isn't that the main goal... to be healthier? I'm not getting discouraged yet. I hope you won't either. Be patient and stay on track.

It could just be muscle :) but hey, you're out there and you're trying and you're taking the initiative. So I think that congratulations are in order.

It sounds like you might be gaining weight due to the possibility of gaining muscle, depending on what you do at the gym. treadmill could gain you leg muscles which may not show on the scales but may show when you measure yourself. My wife is having the same issue, so you are not alone, if you stick with it, your increased muscle may boost your metabolism and see a greater jump in weight loss than expected.

QueenBee: I know what you are saying. I was stayed in my calorie allotments and exercised 5 times last week. I got on the scale, and only lost 1/4 lb.
But.......I know the healthy eating/exercising does work. I lost 60 lbs. five years ago. I was very consistent, and it did pay off. (I've since then gained 20 back, and that is what I'm trying to get off now)
Hang in there, gal. Keep eating healthy/working out. I promise you that scale will start moving down.
