| Thanks for your concern. Baby had to go to Doctor for throat infection, and he wrote a report about the bruises and advised Jordan's mommy to lay a charge of negligence. "Where are the overseers for such a long time that a baby gets bitten 4 times at once?" And what is a baby doing in-between older toddlers? But I am not sure if we should go that far. We have now taken her out, but then there is the case of "worse things could happen to other children if they are not watched properly."

I have to agree. Did the daycare tell you that she was bitten? Or here the bruise came from? My son's daycare is very good about that stuff. In fact they tell the parents of biters that they have 3 warnings and then the biter is out. Bruises unfortunately can happen from anything, hopefully they would be willing to tell you how they happen.

My daughter's daycare is broken down a little bit differently - they do it by year. Meaning 0 to 1 years is infant, 1 to 2 is toddler, 2 to 3 is waddler, etc.
Honestly I can't say from what you are describing if it is "normal." I know my daughter gets her fair share of bruises with us right there. (She's a toddler and as stubborn as me!) But it sounds like the environment she is is needs a look into. How are they handling the bites? Do they tell you how she got the bruise? I know my daughters school does reports to the parents on any boo boos and if your child hurt another and how it was handled. If you aren't happy then yes, I'd look into another facility. But it is possible that it is just child interaction...

Is it a center where each room has only her age group in it? Or is it more of a home with a range ages? The center here in MI is required to only have 4 kids per 1 adult (6 weeks-2 1/2. Ratio increase as age goes up) and they split the kids into age groups. The nice thing about my Center is they split for every 6 months. Infant 1 = 6 weeks - 6 months Infant 2 = 6 months - 1 year (NEED TO BE CRAWLING) Infant 3 = 1 - 1 1/2 years Toddler 1 = 1 1/2 - 2 years Toddler 2 = 2 - 2 1/2 Young Preschool 2 1/2-3 (ratio goes to 8 kids per 1 adult) Preschool 3 + And potty trained. (ratio 10 kids per 1 adult)
I have had my problems with the center. There was a week or 2 that he was getting bit quite a bit (3 times in 3 days) They had a talk with the parents to see if something was going on at home. Of coarse they were closer to 2 1/2 and should know better. Little ones are still testing to see the limits.
But that much is really uncalled for. Have you talked to them? See what they say? Every time there is an acident at school they have to write out and Accident or an Incident (they did it to someone else) report and I have to read it and sign it. There are going to be things that happen. But you should know what is going on. Some other places here have secured web cams in the rooms so you can see what is going on any time of the day. You have to have user names and passcodes to enter site.
Also I remember at about 10 months is walking time and they fall ALL THE TIME! and if anything (toys or furniture) is near they will usually hit it.

| My poor 10 month old grand-daughter came home her first day at creche in Mitchells Plain with a big blue bump on her forehead. The second day she came home with four places on her body that was bitten blue and open by other bigger children. Should we take her out, or is this things that happen at daycare?
