Mickey, I know what you mean. when that game ended, nobody left the stadium for at least a half hour. It was a surreal experience. The celebration lasted for hours. people were chanting, screaming, shouting, honking and generally going crazy all the way home. It was probably the first and only time I did not mind NY traffic.

Justin,
Thanks for the vote of confidence. The team is strong, but there are so many question makrs in the starting rotation. Now Boston has got a great core to start and I think the AL East, like the NL East, will be very competitive this year. It should make for a very exciting summer and fall. Good Luck.

Well I hate to say this all you Mets Fans, but even though I am a Red Sox fan I think you guys will and should be the NL Representative in the World Series this year. You just need Pedro to come back healthy this season

man, hike_it, that was the best moment of my entire childhood, i think. i was at my aunt and uncle's house and we ran up and down their street with our mets banner and everyone was cheering. it was awesome.

i can't believe i forgot that my actual best game i was at was that year too - 9/17/86, when the mets clinched the NL East pennant. it was my uncle's birthday - my aunt had gotten the tix in april. my whole family was there in the upper deck. we didn't go on the field though.

The best game for me was Game 6 of the 1986 world series. I was about 6 rows behind home plate. The last 30 minutes will live in my memory forever. I have never felt the stadium rock like it did that night. I can still see the ball roll down the first base line and take a funny hop over Buckners glove. It happened in slow motion.

I never saw New Yorkers express emotion as openly as I did that night. They hugged in the stands. they hugged in the streets. They hugged in bars. I thought the world had gone crazy. And maybe it did... for one night... in NYC.

You gotta love this game,
Mark

I am looking forward to a Red Sox vs Mets World Series this year. Daisuke vs Pedro in Game 1...Now that would be a classic!

Got to love the spring training with Bonds going 0-2 and missing a easy popfly. Not a Bonds fan.

DICE-K TODAY!!!

By the way Beckett struck out 5 of six batters in his two innings of work yesterday. Doesn't mean anything necessarily but a good sign none the less.

Anyone ordering MLB.tv this year since you can't get it on cable anymore (stupid DirectTV)? I'm going to get it over the weekend I think.

For me it was when I was a boy, my dad took me to see the Big Red Machine. Tony Perez I believe hit 3 home runs. Unfortunately I didn't catch any of the balls, but it was memorable.

I liked the 01 world series last at bat for the D-Backs against the Yankees. Wish I could have had tickets to that game here, but watched it on t.v. like the rest of AZ.

for me, it's gotta be either 9/21/01 (the first baseball game in NYC after september 11; piazza hit a homer to beat the braves), or game 1 of the nlcs last year.

I grew up in Albuquerque and watching the Dukes. Former AAA team of the Dodgers. I remember watching Orel Hershiser pitching to Mike Scioscia, the coach for the LA Angels now. I really missed those AAA games, especially the prices and the great baseball. I had season tickets for a single A team, Portland Rockies, in the late 90's, but the game was a lot different. That was the first time in a long time the players were using bats since they were just out of college and didn't use them. A lot of pop-ups, but enjoyed the games still. Don't know why college doesn't use wood like the pros do?

let's go mets, indeed. i will be at opening day and at least a half dozen other games this year, i figure. maybe i will see some of you there. (i'll be the guy in the nosebleeds - maybe by the end of the season i won't have so much trouble fitting my butt in those tiny seats.)

I have been a Mets fan since 1970 and look forward to opening day. It's all my grandfathers fault. He worked accross the street from Ebbets field and was freinds with Gil Hodges. After the Dodgers left town and Gil managed the Mets, my grandfather began to follow them Of course, he taught me to love the game. My wife and kids hate baseball season, but they manage without me for a few months. Lets Go Mets!

Has anyone see our D-Back's new colors yet? Not a big fan of them and the new fonts they used on the shirts. It was nice when they changed colors because I got a whole lot of polo shirts for very cheap to wear to work.

I'm ready for the baseball season, I am a San Francisco Giants fan. I have been a fan all my life, but I'm still irritated from the the last time they went to the series, they had it in their hands and through it away.

Anyway, I'm curious what this season will bring.

Yahoo has 12 team limits for their free leagues. How many people do we have that want to play. I've seen 4-5 so far. When it gets closer to March, we may need to set up 1-2 leagues to fit everybody.

I'd be in for an SP league, that'd put me to 4 teams but I'm sure I can handle it.

Got my weekend tickets for the D-Backs. See if bring back Randy does anything for us. Should be interesting? May try to get to some spring training games here in PHX, AZ. That is the nice part of being here in AZ with all of the spring training.

I get stoked for baseball season about 2 days after the last day of the World Series. I'm a Bears fan, so the baseball jones was a little lighter until about midway through the fourth quarter of the SB.

I'm a hardcore Yankees fan. Been to the stadium dozens of times, have tickets to 3 games this year too. The wife wants to go to a Boston game, so we got tickets for the series in April. I've been to a few Boston/NY games and she wanted to see what they're like.

As for Fantasy, I've been running a yahoo roto league now for 7 years (2007 will be year 7) with a good core of people and every year there are a few new guys. I had won 5 in a row until last season where injuries caught up with my team late and I finished 5th.

With that finish, I'll draft no lower than 6th (depending on which core guys re-sign up this year) so I am looking at drafing Carlos Beltran in the first round (Yahoo has A-rod ranked #6, so he might drop to me as well).
