| I did a whole week of counting calories making sure I wouldn't go over 1300 and eating lots of vegetables, I didn't follow the exercise plan that week, the next week I did both, I had more energy from eating healthier.

Well getting more sleep is very important, but also making sure that you are eating enough. I go to the gym after work, so I make sure that I eat enough during the day so that my body feels ready to exercise. Also I like to eat something about 1-2 hours before I go to the gym. Lately I've been having a bowl of oatmeal. This has worked really well. But more importantly you just need to get into the routine and habit of going to the gym. It is have for the first couple of weeks, but after a couple of weeks you will have made it a habit and won't think twice about going!

I echo the "ease into it" idea. Do something that's a challenge for you, but not impossible. As your body gets used to that, you can make it a longer or more intense workout (I've read that you shouldn't change both length and intensity at the same time though).
Another thing that I really think helped me get more energy is consistently getting 8 hours of sleep each night. Your body needs that rest. I can tell the difference if I stay up a little too late.

I have been reading this really great book called "High Energy Living" by Robert K. Cooper, Ph.D. It has all these great little tips like with in the first half hour after you wake up to expose yourself to lots of light... like step outside for just a few minutes and to excersise for at least 5 mins with in the first half hour your up. Both trigger your body into releasing chemicals that make you feel more awake and energetic as well as get your metab. going for the day to help you burn more cal. Hope this helps you as much as it has me. Estella

You will get more energy than you had before you started exercising...just stick with it. Also, try not to do too much too soon, you can easily burn yourself out, or even injure yourself. Ease into it.
Good Luck!! You can do it!
