| It is not helping with your weight loss becasue yuor body is accustomed to doing it...it is just a part of what your body does on a daily basis. You need to get something else in that breaks a sweat and gets your metabolism going. Maybe get a small workout in before work to kick start yru metabolism and then being on your feet would be more efecttive. HTH

| I shake my walks by adding a steep hill or I'll go to the gym on one of my walk days and do the elipicital. It helps and keeps me from getting bored.

HI, A
The problem with an activity like walking at work is that your body adapts itself to anything you have to do all the time, becoming very efficient at doing it with the lowest possible energy expenditure. I'm sure you are burning more calories every day than someone who sits at a desk all day, but not nearly as many as the tracker would tell you if you put "walking" in for that amount of time-probably quite a bit less than half as much, even.
Also, as another post mentioned, the walking probably doesn't get your heart rate elevated enough to give you either the health benefits or the higher calorie burn of higher intensity cardio exercise. Instead of doing more walking for exercise, I'd say try to find something that will get your heart rate up to 70% of your maximum or more for at least 20-30 minutes several times per week.
Hope this helps.

| Have you tried yoga or various workout tapes? I have heard that walking with a lot of starting and stopping doesn't really give you the cardio needed.

| I am a waitress, so I am constantly walking at work sometimes almost jogging. Why does that not seem to help with my weight loss? I do everything recommended to increase my steps, but I should be getting in enough at work alone. What else can I do that doesn't take too much time??
