| I dont make two meals. Everyone needs to eat healthy and it makes my life easy not to be preparing meals for them and me. I may choose to skip the carb and bread but I am fine with that.

There are only three of us but what we do is sit down and plan the meals together for the week. That way everyone has a say in what's for supper. On weeks that we didn't do that I will ask my dd (6 yo) to help choose the veggie, fruit or type of pasta we will have. That way I can remind her that she chose it so she's going to eat it. Occassionaly I do a "on your own night" where you can eat anything you want (within reason). My dd usually picks a breakfast item (cereal, waffles, scrambled eggs, etc) for her meal with milk and fruit and I'll have a LC meal, etc.
The meal planning is our best solution though, not only do "I" not have to decide what's for supper all the time, it helps for grocery shopping too.

I am having a really low emotional time right now. How do you get motivated and stay motivated? What do you eat? Thanks in advance.

| I sometimes plan ahead for the week so when I do groceries I can just get what I need and not be so tempted by anything else. But I don't make separate meals. It's good for my family to eat healthy too, not just me cause I need to lose weight. So if I make it, they eat it!

A meal doesn't have to be 'special' to be healthy. You can control your cal. by reducing your portion and/or find meals that are lower in fat.. A meal of homemade chili is good, but avoid those deep fried chicken wings.. know what I mean? Don't forget those things that good for you and add things up.. such as vegetables. My husband is a "meat and potatoes" type of guy.. We just mix it up a bit, add more of sides and I don't eat as much of the meat as I do the sides.
Remember that cooking from scratch is much lower in fat, cal., and sodium that you will ever find in pre-packaged foods. Prepackaged foods also cost more (yes, it really does). You can also stretch food by not serving it in large pieces. For example, people will eat less chicken fingers than they will a single whole chicken breast. It is a visual thing but very important. HTH!

| well that is easier said than done.. my dh doesn't like me to fix "special" meals.. it is hard on the budget.

I have been cooking the meal as planned, and I eat that. Then I make a few more things for the family that I don't eat. So we always have the core, then they can choose to have more. Perfect example is lunches - I'll make sandwiches, and I eat baby carrots, and they will have baby carrots and chips.
Another thing I do is parallel cooking. For example, I make the white bean, basil, and sun dried tomato pizza, so I bought a larger pizza crust and on one end I just put cheese so the kids could have cheese bread. The rest of the pizza dh and I ate, the kids had little pieces, and then they also had applesauce and salami. Just look at the ingredients and see if there's something really close you could do for a pickier or heartier eater.

i live wt DH. i always cook for both of us. he loves that i make "exotic" dishes (like pasta wt. salmon, papaya...yummm). he is thin and i try to keep the both of us thin LOL
my advice is to try to cook something that looks "rich" but in fact is not filled wt calories. and salads are a good way to do it. also cooking veggies along wt a grilled chicken breast or wt fish
