thanks Carol, i will give it a try but last night when i got home my sister told me that she managed to cook it like rice and it was actually pretty good we ate it with lentils and chutney.

tell... how often should i weigh myself, i was thinking every week, but it does not seem like there has been much changes after one week.

today when i went to the clinic ( as i have not bought my scale yet) and i was still 65.

Hi Diiiva,
It does sound like you have bulgur wheat and it is so simple to use. If you have ever eaten taboulleh before it is made with bulgur.

Take 1 cup wheat , put in heat proof bowl. to this add 1 1/2 cup boiling water or broth ( veg, chicken, beef etc...) and cover tightly with plastic wrap. allow to sit out on your counter between 15 min to 30 min. til water is absorbed.allow to cool completely.
while this is going on in a separate bowl combin the juice of one lemon, a little bit of the lemon zest, 1tbs. of olive oil ( you can add more if you like but I'm trying to keep mine as low cal as possible)
and a little coarse salt and pepper to taste.
Add the flesh of a few seeded diced tomatoes, app. 1 cup, 1/2 to 1cup of seeded diced cucumber, 1 bunch of thinly sliced scallions, 1/2 cup chopped parsley( or less to suit your taste) and 1 small bunch of fresh mint finely chopped as well.Combine all ingredients and refridgerate til ready to serve.
Can be serve as a side salad, with pita chips or as a filling for a pita "sandwich" I like to serve mine in lettuce wraps . Very tasty and the large amount of fiber will keep you full for a long time.
Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Bulgar wheat is wonderful used in place or rice or potatoes, or as a hot cereal too! Takes 30-45 minutes to cook, I make bulgar wheat pilaf with some broth, chopped veggies like onion, celery carrots, and then finish with green peas and chopped green onions

What you most likely have is bulgur (or bulgar or buhlgur) which is also called cracked wheat. Bulgur tastes great and you will find thousands of recipes using it. It is often eaten like rice or couscous, but it has a longer cooking time. As long as you are not gluten intolerant, it's a great, healthy dish.

Here is a recipe for bulgur with chickpeas: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Bulgur-Chickpea-Salad/Detail.aspx
It is a little high in fat but you could use half the vegetable oil the recipe calls for to cut the fat.

Good luck!

Being that you are from another country I have no idea! I know alot of things are called something different. What are the directions? Do you cook it like regular rice? What else does the package say???

i just sent someone to a shop to buy me some brown rice as i could not go (hectic at the office), i called first they told me they had brown rice, when she came back, the rice was not like the one i had previously seen in another shop, but which was now finished. this one looks like it has been crushed a bit it is not whole also on the pack it says "wheat Broken".

is it the same?

please help!!!!!!!!!!! as i have never had or bought brown rice before and here in my country it is something that is not commonly used by ordinary people who are maybe not on a diet paln
