| Last night I got to play some of the Wii sports games. After many rounds of bowling, tennis, and boxing, I can say that it is fun enough to get you moving and it's hard to quit. "One more game" can go on for a while. My right arm is a little sore now, I think that's from swinging too hard at the tennis game.

I've been using the Wii with weights on my arms to lose weight for the past month or so. I lost 16 pounds in 30 days...
I blogged about it at: www.videogamefitness.net.

| My favorite is tennis too. I love that game.

My favorite Wii is the WiiTennis. It's a mix of action and stand-still.
If you want to sweat, then go for the boxing!

It's really the first home system that does this sort of thing - I know there are arcade games that have motion sensor technology, but I don't do the arcade thing really. Even when we go to Dave and Busters I tend to gravitate towards the trivia.
The bowling game is lots of fun - it's part of the wii sports bundle that comes with the system in the US (and I believe most of the rest of the world, just not Japan) and my boyfriend, who is NOT a video gamer (and has spent several years shaking his head at the hours I spent on paper mario or zelda or the like) loves it.

| I here they have a bowling game. I like to bowl so that would be something to look into. I'm not wery knowledgeable on video games but is this the first game system of this kind? Hope you all have a great day.

| Oh no! It's great! Very little chance of hurting oneself. I know - I'm quite talented at injuring myself stupidly! I fell out of a truck last year...

| I don't think I will be getting one of these. I would probably find some way to hurt myself:-)))

| Ha! I know what you mean! We can't sit on the couch when someone plays! Fortunately we have a big comfy chair in the other corner.

| It certainly is physical my husband was playing bowling and almost hit me in the head. Because I was watching him from the couch our living room isn't that big.

| From what I saw on tv the other day, it looks like you can lose alot of weight. If your not careful you can hurt someone with it or break your tv. Sounds like a real physical game:-)))

Yeah, we've had a great time with the Wii Boxing. That one really does get the old heart rate up if you keep at it. And it's lots of fun. I forgot that they were supposed to be selling them again today - I meant to go try to get a second wiimote. Oh well, we don't really need it yet anyhow.
Have fun with yours!

| My husband just got one at Walmart and he said there was only 3 left when he got there. I did the fitness exercise on it and it was fun.

For those of you still wanting to get your wii on (like me) the word on da intranets is that several large retailers in the US (possibly Canada as well?) will be selling the things tomorrow. Check out http://www.ps3seeker.com/wii
I'm going to go check at least!
And perhaps invest in a heart rate monitor to go with it!

There was a small article in the newspaper today (NY Daily News) about this very subject.

I am not sure - but I have heard multiple testimonies of people loosing a LOT of weight on Dance Dance Revolution. So anything is possible.

| Wow the Wii sound like a great thing to get you up and active. It's about time that they come out with something that promotes physical activity, especially if it'll appeal to the younger generation!!

| Got started playing Madden 07...it's been quite interesting to use different motions to control my characters. Have to get used to this...good fun with the family playing the Wii. Definitely an interactive game...lots of smack talking too...haha

I had the chance to play a Wii for the first time the other day in a GameStop. Man, I was only fishing on some Zelda... but that was some of the most fun I remember having playing a video game and not knowing what I was doing.
Now if only I could get one, I'd be "working out" all the time.
| I have the WII and my New Years Resolution was do do the fitness test everyday and 1 game of each-don't know whether it will do much good but at least it beats sitting on my couch eating.
| It definitely does... the tennis and boxing are fairly action intensive. We have started a routine each night while the weather is bad just to spend family time together being active.

| I am asking for my wife to get it for me for my birthday this month so that I can exercise while playing. It should beat a monotonous 1/2 hour on the treadmill.

| We just picked up a Wii on a fluke chance today at a store... so I am excited to get my first "work-out" in today.
Hehe! A friend of mine bought one out of a store display the day before it came out. I had a blast playing some of the games. I got a bit tired, but for me it also has the benefit that it stretches my muscles and makes me more limber. The bowling game especially feels good for my back. Whether it actually IS good is another matter.
| Well, if you have any systems from the last couple of generations (Game Cube, Playstation 2, Xbox, Dreamcast, Playstation 1 etc), there's a DDR for most of the systems. I think there's even a DVD edition of DDR. From what I can tell, at least some versions, if not all, actually have a workout mode that tells you how many calories you burnt while playing.

| When I first saw the game thats exactly what I thought.. "damn I can get a workout while playing a game!". Unfortunately I'm having a heck of time getting a game here, I tried to nail one on Ebay for 500 canadian (bout 420 US), but it ended up jumping a 100 bucks in the last 30 seconds.

I am not sure it could truly be logged, but my logic is if I am moving and enjoying myself as opposed to sitting on my butt then it is a good thing! The Wii is similar to DDR (Dance Dance Revolution) in that you can actually enjoy yourself while getting some cardio movement.
I do have to tell you I am extremely jealous.... that thing looks like sooooooo much fun!
| Hi, I not familiar with this game but for anything to be cardio you have to move your big muscles in a rhythmic fashion. The results ofthis movement must continuously raise your heart beat to 60-80% of your max for a minimum of ten minutes, but 15 to 20 is better. If this sounds like your game it can count as cardio. I hope that helps you out.

Heck, even the off road game is a workout! I need one of those in the house.
