| Hi I am an emotional eater as well. I tend to binge after a long day of work. I have been struggling with my weight for five years now. Every since I had my daughter, I have not been able to get rid of the pounds and they tend to build up around this time of year. I believe it is the time of being around family that allows me to eat or binge. I have made up in my mind to take control of this habit, I will not be eating like this . 2007 will be a successful year for me and I will claim it!!!!!!

| I binge when stressed as well. It feels sometimes like that is the only thing I can control in my life. Single parent, 3 girls, work in a busy hospital...it can get to be too much. Plus the other nurses ALWAYS bring food, especially this time of year. Yikes!

Evaluate the causes of the stress. If you can't alleviate the cause you have to accept the event. Then evaluate why. The stress is because of your expectations. If you expect to be treated fairly and feel you are not you will be stressed. Are you in an environment that it is reasonable to be treated fairly? Is your estimate of your value consistent with theirs? At home, you may have accepted responsibilities you no longer want.

I fnid that when I am stressed out I tend to binge which would probably make me an emotional eater. However, the only way to combat that is to prepare foods or bring foods with you to work or school that are healthy choices.
It won't alleviate the stress, but it will help if you are trying to keep healthy!
