Both my husband and I were married to others. we each have 2 kids, Together 4, 2 girls, 2 boys. when we got married 12 years ago, they were 13,11,10 and 3. it was tough but we muddled through it. All the kids lived with us. Some days were tough because u didnt want to step on the ex spouses toes. but we made it with prayers and patience. Now I am a proud gramma of 4.

i think that your child will be happy if your happy and keep your child involved in your life with your new hubby. although i live with my partner who is not my childrens father we make sure we spend time together in the form of playing and talking doing homework and they never feel left out or resent the fact that i have a new partner. there father is still invloved in their life and i think the fact that my new partner makes the effort to be freindly with him that my kids feel comfortable with the situation

Hi! I have an instant family (2 are my kids from a previous marriage and 1 belongs to both hubby and I). I find it easy to not take sides when disagreements come up. None of the children are treated differently by hubby and I. Hubby takes time to spend quality alone time with each of my older kids to get to know them better. Regardless how awful their real father is we make it a point not to talk badly about him in front of our kids. Hubby is included in all the decisions and activities involving the 2 older kids as well. In our house the use of words like: stepbrother, stepsister, stepdad, and half sister is not used. In our house we are one family.

Hope this helps out. Good luck!
