| I think leading by example will cure the problem. The closer he sees you getting to your goal weight the more interested he will probably become. My family was never overweight. Yep I was the only one but once they started seeing me get in shape. They all jumped aboard and I never said a word. Now they are a bunch of health nuts, I wish you well on this journey.

Ironthunder, your husband cooks! You are a lucky woman. Mine doesn't even try anymore. I don't even think he can boil water!
I keep hoping that if I keep losing weight my husband will join in soon. He knows he needs to lose weight, so I am not going to tell him. One of my sons, age three and a half, told him "Papa, you are REALLY fat!". Ugh!

| The "Crazy Plates" series of cookbooks have a lot of traditional foods made lower in fat. My husband loves cooking from them.

I think you can have your meat and potato's. Just make them smaller portions and add a salad or more veggies with it. I know when I was younger at my parents house, the steak we would have would be half the plate. This is not a serving, about 1/2 to 1/3 of it would be a serving. (palm of hand, deck of cards)
Or you can try some of the recipies here on SP, or in the recipie swap section. YOu can find some really good lower calorie foods.
I think once he starts to see you loosing weight, he might wanting to change too.

Make healthy shepherds pie etc. Have a look around for some nice meaty meals that are healthy even if u dont like them,if u make some up and it can be frozen then its something always there for him. If u have time on the weekend-have a get together with friends and have a healthy bbq with heaps of salads then u can play games after to burn it all off. cheers deb

| Does anyone have any ideas or sucess at getting your overweight husband to join them in the diet or creating meals that he will enjoy as well as being healthy and on a diet plan. My husband is a meat and potato guy and doesn't want to diet.
