soy tablets vs. soy foods

There is an article about nutrition during menopause that might give you some good tips for eating to reduce those symptoms. The only thing with those tablets is that they aren't regulated by the FDA, so you could be getting different amounts of soy depending on what brand you're taking. Also, there's no RDA for soy, so it's hard to know if the pills would be giving you enough to make a difference, etc.

Does anyone know if there are benefits to taking soy isoflavone tablets vs. taking soy from foods? My husband is allergic to soy and I don't chance keeping soy milk or other foods high in soy around. I use the soy pills to help ward off hot flashes and other benefits.
