| I am self conscious about that too. I do my exercising when everyone has left for the day now. But I have had to do it in the living room in front of everyone with my little girl getting under my feet.

| When I walk at the park, there are folks of all ages and fitness levels. When I see the heavier or older people walking I think good for them. They are out doing something to make themselves look and feel better.

| The first time my husband made fun of the exercise I was doing, I invited him to try the same exercise and when he couldn't he never said a word about how I looked trying something new again. If your family friends or people at the gym make fun of the way you look trying a exercise invite them to try it, for the most part they may laugh at you, but they can't do the same exercise and when asked to try it themselves they don't like being put on the spot.

| I was embarrassed the first few times I exercised in front of my husband. And yes he did crack a few jokes but the way I see it is I would rather have him look at me and laugh because I look funny trying to be a healthier better looking person than to look at me and be ashamed that his wife has gotten lazy and let herself go and does not care to impress him anymore. Or worse, doesn't look at me at all.

I'm sorry that you feel that anyone (strangers or husband) would judge you for improving your health and lifestyle. Headphones are a great idea to help keep you distracted from those fears. Try just to think about the positive things you are doing for yourself by making fitness a priority.
I also have children (although I only have two) but it's rare that I have any length of time with out at least one of them with me during the day. What about taking a walk as a family with your kids. Walkin is great for everyone. If this is met with some resistence (depending on the ages of your children) is it possible for you to sneak in 30 minutes in the mornings before your children wake up or before your husband leaves for work? It might be difficult at first adjusting to getting up earlier, but it pays off in the long run for sure.
I hope you are able to find your balance soon. Hang in there!

You could ask for privacy so you could do your exercise video.
Once you get the routine down you will feel more confident and won't be so worried about who sees you working out.

Exercising in front of people was one of my hurdles. I even had thoughts as I was walking with people passing by. What they might be thinking of a heavy person walking. I kept doing it. Headphones helped me there. My biggest fear was earlier this year when I joined Curves. I was worried but no one cares. I like it that it is all women. I don't think I could do it in a gym with men. Three days a week is good.
Some things I can think of since you have children. I have four. Mine love to help me exercise or copy mom. They really get into. Another thing they really like is dancing around with mom. We are silly of course. They are having fun, I am enjoying watching them and the time with them. I am also burning calories. Good luck.

My biggest challenge to exercising is having people see me do it. I have exercise tapes but I cannot do them in the am or evening when my husband is home, I am afraid he'll make fun of me. I cannot join a gym I dont have the time or the money. I walk the dog but I have three little kids and cannot be out of the house long so I wind up taking short walks and the entire time I am distracted and dont know if I am getting a good workout. If I excercise only three days a week, when I am sure to be alone, will that be enough of a workout??
