| I'm the cook, but not the shopper. Its hard to cook somethign halthy when he buys all the groceries and buys nothing but junk. LOL

Sometimes it's a struggle with my husband but I am bringing him around.
If you are the cook, just stop cooking the junk.

That's a big problem here too, DH is very tall and thin and nothing he eats seems to add any weight to him. Me, on the other hand, if I even see a ad for cookies I'll gain 5 lbs. LOL
Thanks for the Sloppy Joe recipe, he was actually just aying he wanted me to make some the other. day. :)

I have that same problem, plus my husband is 6'2" and about 156 pounds so he is THIN and eats a whopper combo as Snack, I have to make cookies, cakes and/or brownies for him and the kids every week.
I have learned to make substitutions For example My recipe for Sloppy Joes does not come from a can
Try this without telling them. I am not saying its diet but it is healthier
1-pound lean ground beef 1 tsp Olive oil 1 Large carrot 1 Medium white or Green onion ½ cup of fresh mushrooms (or a small can)
I use my food processor to grate the carrot, onion and mushroom. Put it in a non stick skillet till they cook (about 5-10 mins) set aside and in the same skillet put the tsp of olive oil and cook the meat.
Sloppy sauce 1 cup prepared tomato soup 2 Tbsps corn starch 2 Tbsps of worcestershire sauce
Mix the sauce and mix it with the veggies and meat cook it for a few mins. serve in a bun. I eat it in whole-wheat pita bread Is easier than it sounds, I promise you can also mix to types of ground meat like beef and turkey

| I hate having the junk food in the house. DH is worse than the kids when it comes to eating healthy stuff. I do end up making an extra veggies as a side and eat more of that than the other stuff. I do cook heatlhier which makes them eat a little better.

| I think it is the norm. We just don't eat together. I have a grandson that eats with me sometimes and I got my mother-in-law eating soy chips. Of course she eats her regular chips and candy too. They see the results but aren't ready for the extra effort and self-denial. The best I can say is to set the example and prove it works. Where possible make two meals and when it isn't watch your portions, Eating together is worth the tradeoff.

I understand. My husband gets cranky if I use applesauce instead of oil and egg replacement instead of real eggs in the brownie mix. the kids and I like it just fine. He also scoffs at fun foods like tofu and soybeans too. He loves potato chips and sandwiches with more meat and cheese than bread, not to mention the mayo - yuck!
I just try to sneak in better stuff slowly and not tell him. I made chili with extra beans and less meat and changed it from beef to ground turkey and he didn't know the difference. I also try and offer fruits and veggies to the kids and hope that he picks up on it. It's hard to try and improve my own eating when he comes to the couch with a giant bowl of chips, but I'm moving forward. My kids see me excercising and taking them for walks, and they see dad tired and sleeping on the couch. I just have to explain that you reap what you sow. Good luck!

I'm trying desperately to eat healthy, and to pass that on to my kids. But my husband is a confirmd junk food eater. He thinks hamburger helper and canned corn is a great meal, mostly because that's the sort of things he ate as a kid. I'm trying to get towards fresh fruits and veggies and less processed foods. But it's such a battle! He refuses to eat anything that is out of his normal zone and we can't afford to make 2 seperate meals or buy extra food.
Has anyone else had a stubborn partner when it comes to food? How did you deal with it?
