water and self control but if i am dieing i have one quesadilla cause that really nips my thing in the budge!
i have sometime these mini pancakes (american pancake batter , but make really small ones and only four or five) and i put a handfull of blueberries and strawberries with some *i cant beleive it isnt syrup* (or like a teaspoon or two of maple syrup, but only if you have enough self control.....) and by making that i lose my crave for bread and i get the berries which i cant eat by itself cause the only way i can otherwise eat berries is in smoothies or dipped in sugar...

I really like oatmeal because it feels good to "cook" something, because it's hot it takes longer to eat, you measure out how much you want to eat before you make it (no risk of over eating), and it has fiber to keep you full. I actually have a site all about healthy, fun, creative foods and snacks- check it out and maybe you'll find some other ideas you like http://guiltlesscreations.blogspot.com
Best of luck!

| A handful of a mix of nuts, seeds, and raisins is my favorite pick-me-up snack in the afternoon.

|
| 1/4 cup cottage cheese topped with a Dole Fruit Bowl (I like the Tropical Fruit). This snack is a good mix of protein and carbs and very filling.

| A piece of fruit, a glass of water, and a short walk is how I usually beat that.

I really like whole wheat pita with Peanut Butter and banana - it perks my mood right up!

| Thanks everyone for your ideas and support. I will try some of those next week. SP just did a topic on mid afternoon sleepies. A lot of SPers recommended going for a walk or watching TV while on Treadmill. That would get me out of the kitchen and burning calories at the same time. All very logical yet difficult to do when the mind is saying, food, nap, food, nap, food, nap....munch crunch....zzzzzzzzzz.

I was reading an article that an apple is a great afternoon snack and is truly filling. I love Granny Smith's apples that are really tart! Yummy! Elise

I like Quaker's Quake Rice Cake snacks because I can have 14 mini rice cakes & only take in 120 calories and .5g of fat! Very filling until dinner. I have a hard time around 3:00pm, too! Good luck, Elise

Well of course there are those 100 calorie packs of all kinds.
I make homemade granola packed with nutrient rich nuts, seeds and fruit. I'd be happy to share the recipe.
Laughing Cow Light Swiss cheese and 6 Reduced Fat townhouse crackers cure my salty/rich cravings for only 100 calories
Hidden Valley Ranch dip made with fat free sour cream and any veggie - carrots, celery, jicama, etc.
Good luck...

| I take a large cucumber, peel it, and cut it into sticks. Then I dip them in Wishbone Fat Free dressing. I eat the whole cucumber along with 2 ounces of the dressing and it is only like 70 calories total. The good thing is that the snack lasts a long time and is very filling, and the dressing has a salty taste to it, satisfying that salt craving.

I have some foods on hand which i always have in case of cravings and emergencies. One trick i use it the fat-free sugar free pudding cups or sugar free jello cups. Sometimes I top it with light cool whip. it's so good. Other things I use is the Kashi granola bars. They have all the right stuff and it can give you extra nutrition while tasting good. Also Slimfast has a snack bar which tastes like a butterfinger candy bar. It's the peanut crunch. Love those, they are my NEW candy bar.

| I have found that a large glass of something hot to drink that I can keep sipping helps. Or, if you have to have something to eat, I have soy crisps. They are good tasting and have some protein.

| Apples are good, especially if you drink a big glass of water first.

some berries will give you the sweetness you crave and are low in fat and very good for you...
or munching on raw carrots?? they take a while to chew and swallow.
i try not to munch in the afternoon but if i need to i take a snack under 100 cals, and try to make it fruit.
a handful of nuts is good too, but just a handful as they can be fattening but are great for our bodies

| I seem to do so well with eating healthy all day and then 3pm comes around and I become a monster. Get out of my way I NEED food! Part of it is the kids coming home and they are snacking but most of it is that I find I have major cravings for salty and sweet at that time of the day. I am also really tired and don't have the energy to fight the cravings. Any advice?
