Heather, that's a great idea. Yeah, a little goalweight commemorative tatt. I've already got a chinese character on my upper arm and a little M&M on my shoulder - But I'm only just getting to the point where I'm not too ashamed to take my shirt off, so they are only just seeing the light of day.

Heather thats what I want too!

I want to lose weight and stick a cool looking dragon across my back.
Get my fat off and build some muscle in my upperback/shoulders and strut down the beach with no shirt is my ultimate goal :)

Robert you sound like my twin! I did the same thing in college and dropped 60 lbs. Then I started working in "real jobs" and I picked up a real gut.

I'm going to look like that guy in my 20s age progressed. I won't be as lean as him because i don't have to eat ramen every day (The benefit of the real job, and a wife) When I get down to the shape I want to be in, I'll get a tattoo. I have an idea of what I want it to look like. Kind of New Orleans brass band meets Oingo Boingo dead man's party. I'll draw it out when I'm closer to that weight

What about starting a spark team of people losing weight to get a tattoo? My reward from the beginning of my spark journey has been a tattoo on my wrist (Egyptian of course, eye of Ra).

I'm not sure how to start a group, but maybe if the interest is there, I could figure it out?

hahahah, Though I'd be happy just being able walk at the beach with no shirt and not have people look grossed out.

They're not trying to actually kill us.

They're just trying to maximize their profits through maximizing our consumption through maximizing the addictiveness of products especially through the use of mostly sugary and salty additives.

I suppose I'd do the same things too if it was my job and had to feed my kids. Just don't know if that's what I'd feed my kids though...

The important thing to me is, when I look in the mirror I like what's looking back at me and I like what I see. For some people when they lose a large amount of weight and look in a mirror, they still see the "fat" person looking back at them. It takes time to get that person out of your head, and maybe a good counselor.

But keep fighting. The food industry is trying to kill us...oooops...conspiracy theory...I'm off to that room.

Be healthy and realistic in whomever you choose if that's the way you decide to do it.

Oh to be the thin guy! I have been huge for what seems like forever. The Arnie days are part of the problem. I lived in the gym for 18 years striving for strength, then I find out they have hand trucks and fork lifts!

When I was in H.S. I was thin and in great shape. Don't think I will get back to that, but the NFL lineman look is not where I'm staying either.

here's something I totally forgot about. I May, when I decided I was going to get healthy and start working out, it actually caused me to cry quite a bit at first, because of the stress of being on display .. how pathetic.. I probably shouldn't even share that

I just want to be strong and healthy.

When I was younger, I was lighter and was always looked at by guys as well as commented etc etc. got very tiring and that I was always on display for other people. Partially why being a bit heavier felt good because I didn't have to deal with that. Now it's back to the guy's checking me out, and their wives being unhappy about it ... I try to ignore it.

so I like to look good .. but it seems to come with a lot of extra blah stuff.

John Candy or Rodney Daingerfield.

I have pretty much stayed the same for more than 20 years with little fluctuations, one size up or down. I learned I have Gout and am loosing to lessen the stress on the joints. Otherwise I'm okay with the bod I have.

That's a good question!

I would like to look like I did back in college as well. I have never really put an image along with that concept though - unfortunately I don't have any pictures from college kicking around.

i lost weight at college - got involved in all sorts of great clubs - had lots of fun - cycled/ran everywhere - partied - lived off pasta/chicken - the cheapest food we could buy - needed the money for more important things - clothes n beer. As I've become less finacially challenged over the years my weight has increased - my exercise decreased - the more expendable income the more expandable the waist - hence joining spark people.

Micky, that's a great question - I was going to ask it myself.

Like yourself, I look to celebrities for my body image (unhealthy . . .perhaps. . .) so I'm aiming for the Angelina or Beyonce curves, but I also want to be athletic (triathalons, basketball) so I hope those two goals can work together.

Heather
PS The mental image I got with your description of Arnie was horrifying!!! lol

My fitness level reached an all time high when I was a Senior in H.S. I gained about 30lbs throughout college, and have since been yo-yo'ing trying to get back down. I won't fully feel like "ME" unless I go back to where I was - feeling that I'm too skinny, working on a sickpack, and blowing my money on clothes that fit great. I can do it.

I'm actually looking to be like myself when I was in my 20's - especially since my clothes from that era are back in fashion - old pictures help me get motivated.

I know we are all losing weight for reasons of health and fitness - but a large part of of is also to look good right? I was watching Randy Quaid in 'Flight of the Phoenix' the other day and found myself thinking - 'We're about the same age and height ... Hey, I could look like that!'
So I ripped the DVD and photoshopped a frame of shirtless Randy, printed it out and stuck it on the fridge. (Of course, my wife now thinks I've got a thing for Randy Quaid - but, what the heck, if it motivates...)
So, tell me what kind of body image are you all aiming for? Are you going for the Arnold Swartzenegger 'condom full of walnuts' look - or the Travis Bickle lean and wiry?
