Hi Sharon

I am at a stand still to after losing only about 10 pounds. I think it is my own fault as since returning from holiday I haven't been as disciplined with my 8 glasses of water and have not followed the stretching and exercise rules. Not enough time is my excuse but I suppose I'll use any excuse to avoid being discilplining my behaviour.

Maybe we should challenge each other to something? Might help?

Hi Sharon
Yes I do think we have wooly worms but never heard them called that as you said, caterpillars here I would think.
I do know what you mean about currency, seems to me most of europe use euro's now but we still use pence and pounds thank goodness, was hard enough when we converted to decimal from pounds shillings and pennies lol
The summer has gone very fast indeed and as you call it fall, we call it autumn, is here upon us already and will soon be christmas!

I am sure you will lose a bit before doctors appointment, I too am at a stand still, is awful when you try hard but then maybe have an off day and then just stay at the same weight for weeks but hey, we can only try can't we.
Thanks for the message anyway is lovely to chat to you.
Take it easy

Charlie,

Rainy and windy -- hmm sounds like typical England weather to me. Actually the whole weather system is out of whack world wide.

I've gotten used to the way the English talk since I've had several pen pals in England for 20+ years now. I did learn that the currency has changed a bit over the years but only after I made a fool of myself. I had mentioned in a letter to one of my pals about a demonination of money that was in a movie and I just assumed that it was still being used today - nope. Can't even remember what the denomination is now.

I can't believe Fall is creeping up on us - for the last week I've seen lots of dark wooly worms crossing the road so it looks like we are going to be having another mild winter again - so far anyway. In case you are wondering, the wooly worms is a old timer's prediction of the type of winter weather we will have. My grandfather told me about it when he was living with us and to this date it hasn't bring wrong yet. If there are a lot of white ones that means there is going to be a LOT of snow. White and real fuzzy - lots of snow and super cold temperatures. The darker they are the milder the weather. Of course, I'm not sure you have wooly worms there in England or not. The best way to describe them are just furry catepillars.

As for my weight loss - I'm sitting on a plateau right now. I haven't gained and I haven't lost. I need to have some kind of progress before my next dr appt which is in three weeks.

Well, it's going on 2 a.m. and I need to get to bed. Have to get up early in the morning - lots of errands to run before noon. Take care~~~~

HI Sharon, the weather here has been awful, rain and windy all the time and getting dark earlier now too.
I went to visit my family who all live in and around London for the weekend and it was glorious sunshine all weekend but rained the whole time back in Wales where my eldest daughter and son are, my daughter looked after one of my dogs and I took the other one with me as my mum has a large labrador but my little westie doesn't like other dogs except for the other westie I have so left her behind.
You did give me a laugh about the vet who is allergic to animals though.
Yes I suppose queue is a rather silly word and waiting in line is a better and easy to understand saying, the English language the way we write and say it is very odd indeed!
It is very strange about my dogs being allergic to cats though isn't it, as I said, I used to have a cat but they just kept on sneezing and ended up ripping their fur out and getting very stressed!

Hope you are keeping well though and staying on track with the weight loss, I am not doing so well at the moment, having a bad time with one of my boys, he has behaviour problems and makes me stressed and so I end up eating to comfort myself and then feel guilty and start all over again, you know the story I'm sure lol
Keep in touch
take care

Charlie,

Yep, ya'll sure do spell differently than we do. I think you spell about the same as Canada does - where we spell it "color" you spell it "colour" and "checks - checques" It took me the longest time to figure out what the heck queue was...lol. To me it would be much easier to say "waiting in line" :P

That's really weird that a dog would be allergic to cats - definitely gave me my chuckle for the day. However, I think having a vet who was allergic to animals was hilarious. The clinic where I take my animals there are two vets (the male dr has been our vet since he came to town 30 years ago) - the lady vet is the one who discovered after 15 years that she is allergic to dogs, cats, rabbits, - anything with a fairly long coat. She's not allergic to horses, cows, etc though. Now she is on a medication that costs her $100 a month just so she can continue her career.

How is the weather in lovely UK? We had some rain yesterday and a little today but more heavy fog that left everything wet. Temps are starting to get more Fall like - in the 70's and 80's during the day and 50's and 60's at night. Soon it will be time to take the air conditioners out of the windows.

Hi Sharon
Thanks for the reply, well I was wondering why girls shouldn't post on the guys board but when I saw the thread about what would happen I thought I may as well join in too lol
I didn't realise what typo's were and then when the guy sent me a message about being from the uk I understood that we english say and spell differently to people in the USA.

I love cats too but can't have one as I have two west highland terriers who are allergic to them funny enough, I did have a siamese and she made them both itch and sneeze so I gave her to my daughter where she proudly sits on the windlow ledge as if she is an ornament, bless her.
It seems a nice site with cheery people in it anyway, once again, thanks for the reply and keep in touch

Hello Charlie! I see you have met Bill and Russ - sweet guys they are. I'm Sharon and I'm 53 - I joke around with these two young fellers over in the other part of the Guys Lounge where the female persuasion is allowed to post. Not that they could stop me at any other section but it's the main one I hang out in.

I know how it is to make typographical "typos" at the wee hours of the morning. Sometimes mine are made because there is a cat sitting on my hands while I'm at the computer. LOL Being "mom" to 5 cats leaves me very little personal space but I wouldn't have it any other way. They are my babies and I love 'em as much as if they were human.

Okay, time to hit the sheets - it's 4 a.m.! Wow - and I have to be up in 4 hours.....whoa - I need to learn to watch the clock a little closer. LOL

Hi Bill
My brother used to live in Wolverhampton but gone to Ireland now and loves it there.
Thanks for the typo info, I didn't realise there was so much difference in the spelling.

I lived in the east end of London for a lot of years but moved to Wales just four years ago now, it is a culture shock as no all night shops here and not many shops at all really, is only a little place but lovely for kids to grow up in although I imagine they will be bored once they get older and become teenagers, nothing to do really.
Thanks for the message anyway, am sorry you lost touch with your family in Wales but we all lose touch don't we especially when we move.
Take it easy

Hi Charlie

I am now a Canadian originally from Wolverhampton been here 50 years. The typo's are confusing spelling issues between US, Can & England. Just to confuse us and make the English language so wonderful.

Things like realise - realize
Neighbour - neighbor
favour - favor
programme - program, etc., etc., many more

Don't say things like "knock me up in the morning"! But being originally from London, I suppose you could give us all a good lesson in Cockney slang!

I have relatives from Wales and sadly over the years have lost contact with them.

Wherst thee bin?

Bll
