Eating after a certain time in the evening all depends on the individuel. The most important thing is to not consume more calories then you will use up in a day. It really does not matter what time of the day you eat these calories. But if you have trouble sleeping at night or have heartburn or a slower metabolism then you may want to stop eating after 2 to 3 hours before bed.

I am trying not to eat anything after my main meal in the evening. But as we have young kids, that's at about 5-5.30pm. I am usually up until at least 11pm and by the time I go to bed I am ravenous! If I drink too much water I am up and down all night, and with a baby who wakes up every three hours anyway that's no fun at all! I really hope this gets better as my stomach shrinks. I am only 6 days into it at the mo, and used to habitually eating whenever I feel like it!

Is there actually any health benefits from not eating after 9 pm? I heard somewhere that its kinda bad if you eat within like 2 hours of going to bed, but my fiance said that they broke that myth on mythbusters?
Also, I'm having a problem. I really like the not eating past 9...I just feel too full and bulky when I go to sleep if I do! BUT I work as a waitress (at the moment) starting around 4ish and not finishing until 10, and I miss dinner...therefor not geting 3 meals a day NOR hitting my calorie min. Any suggestions???

Hi I'm new to SparkPeople and I'm from Singapore. You would not believe the amount of yummy food we have here! But I'm determined to lose at least 10 pounds and since I'm totally addicted to chips, snacks and sweets, it's very, very, very difficult for me to stop bingeing. I started writing down what I eat during the day and stopped drinking sodas and adding more fruits. It aslo helps to stop eating and drinking anything after 9pm. That way, your body has enough time to digest meals and you'll sleep without that bloated, heavy feeling. I hope this helps!
