I did weight watchers for a week. Meetings too expensive.
I tried atkins for like, 2 days. The lack of carbs made me feel woozy.
My longstanding "diet" was the eat too much of the wrong stuff and don't exercise diet. What do you know? I didn't lose a pound! I gained several, though :)

| Tanya, you can click on "Change Diet Goals" on your "My Home" page and that will take you back to the setup. Then you can select to add strength training to your program.

I've recently lost 13 lbs by eating a low cal, low fat, low carb, high protein diet.

Approximately 2 weeks ago I found this site. It is TERRIFIC. I do not use any diet (tried them all before). Diet is a bad word for me - never kept up with it. Instead, I've cut down on my portion size (still eat desserts) and do 1 hr of exercise 5 days a week. I use dumbells, stationary bike and air walker. I am intending to purchase a treadmill before winter sets in. I've lost 7 pounds so far.
I had sore knees that kept me awake at night. After starting this program, I've had energy to boot, no knee problems at night or day whatsoever and my balance is getting better every day. I might add, I'm not killing myself exercising either, --- just a steady pace. I am happy with the motivation I get from SparkPeople. This site is a lifesave. Amen.

No diet system, I just changed my own interactions. Brought more activity into my life including cardio and strength training. Became mindful of what I was eating and how much and when and why. Increased daily water consumption. Didn't eat in front of the television or the computer. Logged every bite that went into my mouth.
- Basically I was doing all the things Spark tells us to do!
I lost about 60 pounds that way, but then got caught up with travel and holidays and job search and other things and quit working for it. Fortunately, I didn't really gain back any weight, but I stopped losing.
So I'm very glad I found Spark to jumpstart my motivation again!

About 3 years ago I bought my first-ever diet book, Change One. I had never had a weight problem, but I couldn't lose the weight after my fourth child. I really liked Change One because there was no particular diet. You could eat what you were used to eating, but it helped me develop better habits and watch portion size. I did get back to my pre-preganancy weight, but alas, I've gained about 10 pounds this past year and now I can't blame it on the babies!!

Same here DietColaLola... I think I've tried everything out there since the age of 13... that's 35 years of dieting. This time I'm not dieting (lifestyle change) and I'm accomplishing so much more.

Probably the more appropriate question is what diet DIDN'T I use???
Here's a quick list:
Atkins, South Beach, low fat, Weight Watchers, eDiets, cabbage soup

I used WW point system but couldnt afford the meeting and such, so I had no accountability and stopped. I think this will work better for me.

Hi I'm doing this about the same way you are. I'm watching portion control and doing 1 hr. of cardio and strength exercises 5 days a week. I just know this will work for me. Also, all the articles help a great deal in keeping me motivated.

| Didn't use a program- just controlled portions- ate fewer carbs and started running

|
| Was using SlimFast for about a month and I lost a small amount of weight on it, but due to new diet restrictions, I'm not using it anymore. This site works well for me because I can plan my meals and take into account my dietary restrictions.

Was using fitday.com and fitday PC, but both of those pale in comparison to this website...this place has everything, and I love it.

| I used weight watchers. I was successful, but then gained it back, because i wasn't doing the program any more. So I needed something new to keep my interest.
