There are a couple pcos groups-- search PCOS, I believe it pulls up 5 or 6-- possibly mroe if others have started new threads since I last checked them.

best thing I can think of is finding a WONDERFUL & caring doc to help you- in all respects. They are out there, but I know I have had 2 so far, because of moving- the first a dream, the second a nightmare-- and am once again looking, another move, for another.

Good luck!

I won't say that it will come in time. Because I've been through it all. We've been trying for years- with my ob/gyn and a RE, and drugs, and IVF- still no luck. My weight has been up & down, and now up again... for us who can't conceive easily it's very hard-- and for those who can- they just don't get it. I'm glad to read that you have movedon to an RE-- tests are miserable- but you get some answers, even if they don't have all the answers.

Wish you well!

Congratulations tiffany! healthy baby wishes.
Kiran, I was having trouble getting my cycle going after being on the pill. the regular docs said they couldn't do anything for me so i went to an acupuncturist. after one month of treatment, i had my period back and am ovulating. you may want to give it a try if western medicine doesn't help. have you had your partner checked for sperm count as well?

kiran123 I think that there is a pcos support group on this site. I would search the topic on the message boards to find the group. I don't have the disorder but I know how frustrating infertility can be. Best of luck with the treatments you are trying.

It is frustrating. My infertility has caused depression and because of the depression I ate. I gained almost twenty pounds last year. I'm finally focused thanks to sp so I know now that I can lose this weight and keep it off. I also know that I will have a healthier pregnancey this time around because I will be eating better and exercising. I did neither of those during my pregnancey with my son. I gained seventy pounds (not a good thing).

Hi,
I had my 1st son, then got norplant, then when he was 2 I got it taken out, then I did not get pregnant until he was 7!Then he was in PICU when my daughter was 6 mo old and I got pregnant again.
Whenever i weigh more then a certian weight I can not get pregnant. Some women are more sensitive to weight then others.I have a friend that said she was over 300 when she concived, but if I am over 220 I cant concive.
I was infertile for about 5 yrs,and know how frustrating it is.It is devestating, realy.
It is VERY hard to get pregnant if you are not ovulating at a regular schedule and I know I don't,and that is typical of overweight women.

Took me 11 months.
I was 29.
I would say just be patient and don't worry too much, it will happen at the perfect time, believe me.

Good luck!

Hello there,

I usually take 2-3 months, but that's me. Have you tried buying ovulation predictor kits? They can help you pin point the best time to have sex.

I would also ask you dr about your dieting. I think light exercise is fine. I was doing water aerobic at 4-5 months preggo and that was great.

Good luck! Hope it happens soon!!

My husband and I have been trying for two years now. I conceived a year ago in march but miscarried at seven weeks. I am twenty-five so age isn't a factor. We just started seeing a fertility specialist to see if there is something that is preventing us from conceiving. I am forty pounds heavier than I was when I conceived my son so I think that is probably playing a part in it. I have not read taking control of your fertility but I did do the whole monitoring my temperature and stuff. I found that it only stressed me out and that doesn't really help with conception. My cycle can be kind of wonky so I may have to go on something to fix that. Good luck with conceiving. children are a wonderful blessing in life.

Hi Becky,
I'm also ttc. I'm 36 (about to be 37 in Sept.) and was on the pill until March. I didn't get my cycle back until July so we just tried for real last month. Today I got my period. I'm bummed. Trying to stay realistic. My OB told me to come see her in 6 months if we still hadn't had success. Depending on your age, you might wait up to a year before seeing a doctor.
Have you read Taking Control of your Fertility? It's useful info about your cycle and timing sex to give you greater chances of conceiving.
best wishes

I signed up for babyfit.com but there really isn't much there for someone who is trying to conceive. It's mostly for people who are already pregnant. There are however some posts on the message board about people who are trying to conceive. It's great to know that it's there for when I do conceive. I love that it's free too.
My husband and I have been trying to conceive for two years. I feel like my weight is a factor in us having trouble conceiving. That's why I joined sparkpeople to get in shape so I can conceive and have a healthy pregnancey. good luck with achieving your goals.

C,

I think the average is 6 months, although that can be shorter or longer depending on the person. You'll want to talk to your doctor about diet and exercise, but for most people, it's okay to continue what you've been doing.

You might also want to check out our sister site, www.babyfit.com. It's for pregnant moms and those trying to conceive- it's also free.

Hope that helps!

This is my husband and I 's first month trying and I was wondering what is the normal length of time it takes to conceive a baby? I also was wondering if it is okay to diet and exercise intensly with Slim in 6 while trying to conceive.
