My favorite Conspiracy theory was that the vast right wing conspiracy is waging war for cheap oil.

I know this isn't true for a fact, because I've bene flashing my VRWC card at all the gas stations for several years now, and they aren't giving me a discount..sheesh!

Those 9/11 Conspiracy Theory nuts remind me a lot of those Neo-Nazis who go on and on about the "Zionist lobby" and how it controls the world. Whackos.

You know, I was flipping though the channels the other day and on the 'Public Access' channel they had a couple of guys touring the WTC site and explaining how all the 9/11 Conspiracy Theories were not only a theory, but a fact. And they had no problem pointing the finger at one person in goverment as the sole person responcible for that day (Of course they said it was Bush) No mention of the 9/11 commision report (except to call it a 'white wash' or 'hoax') No mention of other failings in the system, etc. I was shaking my head as to like 'Gezz, I can't believe some of these people.'

I get really sensitive when speaking about what happened on 911. I agree that no one should be able to execute such a devastating attack on U.S soil, but Americans should not lose sight of the fact that there really are people out there who want us all dead. I just hope our offensive lasts as long as it takes.

Hey PowerGuy I agree with you he not only attacked us but the reason he attacked the WTC is because it was the World Trade Center.

I agree, The thing that gets me though is when people start blaming one person in goverment as to the cause.

9/11 wasn't caused by any 1 person in goverment, it was caused my someone who don't even live in the U.S., Is it possible that parts of our own goverment failed us to some extent. I would have to say yes it was possible. But it was one person or one part of goverment. It was because of a number of people at diffrent levels.

If you really give it some thought, Bin-Laden wasn't declaring war on the U.S. when he hit the WTC (Even though it was evident that the U.S. was his biggest target.) He was declaring war against the world, even his own people. WTC had offices of companies based all over the world. Not only did he attack Americans, but he attacked people that lived in other countries, but either worked, visited, etc. WTC, Even people of his own religion... And Koran (their bible) says that a muslim (please pardon any mis-spellings) shall not harm another muslim.

Tommy

I was a little hesitant about posting on the 9/11 issue because it is so current and many of us are effected by this in so many different way. I think this conversation proves how easy it is for us (myself included) to take the ball and run the wrong way. I agree we should not implicate the government but we need to hold them accountable. (Stepping down off my soapbox)

My last post was not meant to be in direct response to yours, as I agree with most of what you're saying. Our government is one for the people and by the people, so questioning how things are done is every American's birthright. Questioning is not what's asinine, but implicating the government in something this tragic is. Conspiracy theories is the topic here, and that is what I'm attacking.

There is nothing asinine about blaming people for failing to do their jobs. Not one time did I mention the Bush administration or the Clinton administration, that was done by you. I said “our government” not regulating my comment to just the White House. I was in the military for 15 years and know a little something about our security and having been stationed in the D.C. area for over 7 years I also know a little something about what goes on there. I am not one of those people who runs around speaking about things I have heard or read. I speak about what I know. Now having served our country on the ground through a war and several conflicts, I know that when you slack off people die. I don’t expect the President to be “The Know All, Be All.” That is not his job. I am saying he was failed (like the rest of us) by the various organizations we have in place to stop this very thing from happening. We have to get out of the mindset that questioning how our government functions in time of war is in some way unpatriotic, it is not, it is our duty as citizens. It is the very reason my friends and family members are serving in Iraq now. So in the future read the post carefully and don’t respond to what you think you see. That is how conspiracy theories get started.

Yeah like the first WTC bombing which had its roots during Bush Sr. administration.

Keep in mind that the hijackers turned off the planes' transponder, essentially making them invisible amoung thousands of other planes around the busiest airway in the world.

Blaming the Bush administration for the events of 9/11 is totally asinine. The hijackers planned and were in the U.S well before Bush took office. I don't want this to turn into a Democrat/Republican debate, but there were numerous terrorist attacks during the Clinton admin, which resulted in little or no government response.

Ok guys I just had to pop my head in here. Being born and raised in NYC (Brooklyn) and also a former military Intel member I have to say that as I watched the second plane hit My towers I was shocked. As I watched WTC that I grew up visiting and had friends who were working there that day, my first thought was where in the Hell is the Air Force. While I do not believe that our government planned the attack on the WTC. I do believe they are very responsible for what happened. Believe me guys having been station near D.C. for 7 years, there is no way a plane should have hit the Pentagon and no way a second plane should have hit the Towers. If you guys recall CNN reported that a fourth plane was missing and 2 Air force fighters were moving to intercept. We now know this was the flight out of Philly where those true American Heroes lost their lives. We never hear if they were intercepted or not. (Not that it matters that would open another can of worms.)The only conspiracy is the one that stops the flow of information to the right people and should make us ask why with all the info we have we still don’t work effectively together.

Yeah, but don't you think it's the height of hypocrisy, Powerguy, for this administration to enact legislation that restrictions on our personal freedoms as Americans, yet lobby to grandfather in all the illegals presently in the U.S. and leave the Mexican border unprotected~ essentially an open invitation to would-be terrorists?

As far as the 'Patriot Act' goes there are several things I disagree with. (As I think all of us do to some extent) but by the same fact when 9/11 happened we all knew it was only matter of time until some new laws would come about. Personally I think our elected officals in Congress and even The President to pass these laws to show the public that they were doing something about it. I'd like to think that if they would have done what seems to be done now, and that is try to look at all aspects, aruge about it, etc. I think there would be a better set of 'Patriot Act' laws

I'm glad that none of you guys give in to those 9/11 conspiracy "theories". Someone I know actually forwarded me that stupid "Loose Change" video, which I watched and laughed at all of its conjecture-filled statements and inaccuracies. What pisses me off the most is that there are actually a good amount of people out there who believe crap like that hook line and sinker. Ugh. I hate CTs.

"There are infinite ways to find things to use as weapons and infinite ways to hide them. But if you can identify the individual, it is by far the better way to find the threat."
KIP HAWLEY, director of the Transportation Security Administration, on using behavior observation techniques to spot security threats.

Conspiracy is the idea that we are ever physically safe. If I can keep you scared, I win.

A friend once commented to me on my fitness and health habits, “You’re gonna die of something. For you its not gonna be heart disease or stroke it’ll be something healthy”

The greatest weapon is fear itself. The greatest conspiracy is Safety, Health and Fitness. It just dawned on me Sex has to fit in here somewhere.

All are elusive. All create consumers.

Sorry, incomplete thoughts. I will get back to you.

Always the possibility that they kept him in the dark. Just because only the president can officially order such a strike doesn't guarantee he even knew. We're also supposedly protected against unlawful searches and seizures and an inalienable right to privacy as Americans, then along comes the Patriot Act.

Just watching him over the past 6 years, I'm not sure he can keep that poker face. Cheney and Rumsfeld, yeah I can see it. Bush would have tripped up by now.

Bush had plenty of time to lose the "deer in headlights" shock once aboard Air Force One and order Flight 93 downed if in fact it wasn't a crash. This would absolutely have to be covered up. Can you imagine the outrage of the grieving families to learn instead of heroes their loved ones went out twice as victims, once from the hijackers and then again at the hands of the US gov.

Yeah 9/11 I remember almost everyone having an "Aw crap!" look on their faces, me included. As freely as information seems to flow now, there's almost no way to hold out on this juicy a piece of info.

As far as the 'United 93' missle believe it or not that was due to the fact that there were reports from people who lived in the area of the crash and said that they saw F-16's in the air soon after the plain crashed. Even I would have to admit, at first that would be my first thought as well. But at the time (pre-9/11) the only person who could approve the downing of a civilian aircraft was the President. And if you say Bush had the 'Deer in the Headlights' look do you honestly think he would take such action?

Now... In responce to the 'Deer in the headlight' look that day shocked us all. I remember myself looking at the TV while everything was going on with my mouth wide open in total shock. However I do have to admit that when the second plane hit the World Trade Center I even thought 'Bin Laden is behind this' But the only reason I thought that was because he tried to bring down the World Trade Center before. All I'm saying is that if you think about it, If you think back to that day you will find yourself in some sort of awe. And if you say you weren't... Well then, let's just say you may not like my opinion of things.

As far as Bush masterminding 9/11, that would be masterful acting, something I don't think he's capable of.

Now, as far as trying to set up a trilateral union between the US, Canada and Mexico, I think he not only knows about it but I'm pretty sure he's championing the effort, in a less than overt fashion. Why else can't we close the border between the US and Mexico, if not to keep the idea of an American Union viable?

Yeah, the whole plot was clearly too involved for the Bush administration to pull off. Besides, did you see how he looked like a deer in headlights when they informed him that morning while readings books to those children? That notwithstanding, the flight 93 missle rumors makes one wonder.

I have heard some of the 9-11 'theories' but I don't think any of the 'theories' hold any amount of water. Anyone with any form of understanding knows it was all the result of Osama Bin Laden, and other TERRORISTS! Nothing more.

Ok we can steer clear of tales from Roswell, New Mexico and those of JFK's demise cuz those have been done to death, but let's create a thread in homage to all those Orwellian conspiracies out there like how OnStar is really just designed so the government can track us easier or how Walmart will soon incorporate RF transponders in lieu of barcodes on their products so they can drive by your house and scan your belongings.
