My husband said he would do SP once I had lost my 50 lbs I would like to lose. He said he wanted to see if it would work first. So I guess I am just praying that he will want to join me sooner instead of later so we can lose together. I have already created a username for him and everything.

| I agree with BuffedStuff. I am working out and eating better. I've been here on spark for a few months, and my fiance has changed the foods that he chooses to take to work with him. Instead of buying chips and soda, he is taking instant powerade/gatorade to mix at work, and he is taking granola bars and chex mix to eat. Not perfect, but still an improvement. He is also "helping" to read nutrition labels "for my benefit". I will frequesntly ask him what a serving size is on something, and he will look to tell me. Then when I make plate for us to eat, he will ask me to make his like mine sometimes. And he is eating veggies now. Men are like kids (no offense guys) ... if you set an example, they will follow. It may take some time, but they WILL follow.

| Would it be possible to turn that after work family time into something active. I've been trying to invite the girls and DH along on an evening walk after dinner. Even a game of catch out on the lawn would add some exercise.

Maybe once he starts seeing you shed those pounds he'll want to jump on board. Just keep doing this for you and he will eventually catch on. If nothing else, you'll be feeding him healthier meals at home. Good luck.

Hey thanks for the ideas. I think patience and just changing the food we keep in the house and how we cook do make a big difference. I also know that pointing out thier weight and "nagging"them has the opposite effect! I just wish I could help him work excercise in, he works 7-5 and then needs time with the kids before bedtime.

Wish I could help but my dh is the one who roped me into this.
I know the only thing that worked with him was a gradual change in lifestyle, diet and fitness education over the period of a few years.
Maybe you could inspire him by pointing out how good of an example leading a fit and healthy lifestyle would be for any children you may have?

Not married, but I did just get my father involved on SP. I created a username for him, and sat down with him asking his stats, how much he wanted to lose and all of that...then we went through everything he ate today.
I'm going to do my best to hold him accountable...of course once I move out [yes, I live at home -le sighhh- it's sad], it'll be a test of wills to see if he sticks with it.

| I wish I knew. My DH actually inspired me by loosing about 20 pounds while he was underway with the Navy but I fear he's gained it all back and then some since they got back. It scares me how big he is now but all I can really do is cook better for the family and hope I turn around and inspire him right back.

| My husband has back problems and needs to lose wieght too, but I can't seem to get him motivated. Any suggestions?
