| I agree with the underpant thing. I potty trained (actually my kids potty trained themselves) 4 kids and no pull ups are the best. So what if they get wet when you are gone. Bring a change of clothing. My first told me "I'll do it when I am 3" and she did the other 3 where between 26m and 29 m. I didn't get too worked up over it but I did take them often. Over and Over and Over. I don't know too many that aren't when they go to kindergarden so don't get too worked up. Good luck.

My 10 month old daughter goes to the bathroom with me every time I go and sits on her own potty without her diaper. She has used it a few times. I also let her try to use the potty before I give her a bath. Sometimes the sound of water running will help her go. She will come to me when she need a clean diaper. She'll even get me the diaper and hand it to me. She started doing that when she was about 8.5 months old.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. My 2.5 year old has been interested in the toilet since she was about 16 months old, but I put it off until this spring and tried a potty doll which didn't work. I think I am going to try the underpants thing. I think this weekend or next week I will go and take her to Target or Wal-Mart and have her pick out her own special underwear. She wears diapers now and I think that might be our problem. Thanks again for the suggestions.

| The best information I ever recived was not to use any pulls or training pants just put them in Underwear. I was told it was confusing for them because they still think it is a diaper. I did this with my 3 year last july and she was potty trained in 3 days. Hope it helps

Great topic! My daughter is almost 20 months and we are just sitting on the potty every time we read the potty book. So far she likes wiping herself - silly girl. She waves and says Bye Bye to the tissue paper and then she helps me flush the toilet. She is still young, but starting to show more signs.

Hi Kristina,
I think the best advice I ever received was to be consistant with her. For example, let her use the potty every morning when she wakes up, every night before bed and before a bath. If you are going to put her in pull ups versus big girl underwear right away, just be consistant with taking her to the potty every so often to avoid mishaps. My girls really enjoyed the 'Once Upon a Potty Book'specific to girls. I would read that to them and keep talking about it with them. I did use a reward system outside of stickers. When they used the potty with out being asked, they got two m&m's (which they thought was GREAT) and if they poopoo'd (which was a struggle for my oldest) they would get 4 m&m's. I know each mom is different with what they are comfortable using. I tried stickers at first - then after so many stickers, she would get a present but I don't think the reward was immediate enough for her to really understand at the time.
Good luck with it all and keep us posted on her success!!!
