Why do you want to reduce the carb intake? Are you really eating too many carbs? Or do you just want to lower them because of the hype about low-carb?

Carbs should make up 50% of your diet. Carbs are needed for energy among other thigns. You just want to do your best to have healthy carbs instead of the processed sugars and other junk. Use whole wheat breads and cereals, fresh fruit, wild/brown rices, etc. There are a number of articles in the Resource Center about good carbs.

Let us know what we can help with.

I dunno if this is the kind of info you're looking for, but you could try:

instead of having say 4 slices of bread for sandwiches, have two and pack it with more stuff [e.g. salad]

substitute potato with carrot or other veg [e.g. mashed carrots and turnips, and a small amount of mashed potato, instead of one large portion of M.P.]

Bread and potatoes are my big killers! Hope this helps, Mick.

How do I reduce the amount of carb intake, and still survive. I am 31 years old and need to lose about 75 pounds total, but I crave the carbs and work a horrible schedule?
