When I did Weight Watchers, they required 6 glasses of water, and suggested that 3 of those be plain, clear water.

With even drinks as Crystal light, which have just 5 calories a serving, if that's all we drink, then after 8 glasses, we've had 40 calories. Now, that's not much - but it's different than the zero from plain water.

I just can't drink just water! Ugh! So, I usually drink at least 4 glasses of water and the rest crystal light. I love the peach iced tea. No caffine in it either!

wouldn't that be nice, I could make a cup of tea and use it for water, but I don't think so. I don't know why, I lived in the country as a kid, but I just don't like water. It may be city water or bottled water. I like to put a little of real lemon in it and twin sugar. My grandmother was a diebetic and used it and it has no calories. It would be nice if I could do that.

Really, all it is, is a glass of water and add the rest. Maybe I could take my green tea and brew it and add lemon and twin sugar.

I have never been a pop drinker or juice drinker, just tea. I have IC so getting all those fluids in me just makes me run...... all the time. But if it will help me, I wonder who we could ask to clear up this topic. I read one of there articles and it said the best and only real thing to drink is only water. But I hear only rave reviews about crystal light. All other beverages are not as pure and it is the pure clear water that our body needs to keep our body temperature under control, when we exercise and if we are thirsty we are most likely dehydrated because you should drink when you are not thirsty all day long.

Well, I guess, a glass at breakfast, lunch, and dinner and one when we get up would make four. And maybe one when you go to bed that would be five. and maybe two before you exercise and 2 afterwards.
That could be eight.

Maybe we should put a chart up or use the elastic trick.

But lemon and sugar sure makes water taste really good.

I am always leary about packaged stuff. Because usually after a few years they say it is not good for you.

Hard to tell.

Hope I did not confuse the issue.

That is a good question. I have only been counting my water intake and not counting Crystal light.

Well, I looked around the site and found this answer from the Experts here...

Can other drinks such as diet sodas and herbal tea count towards my 8 glasses of water for the day?

The latest recommendations from the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Science, Dietary Reference Intake for Electrolytes and water says..."The fluids consumed do not have to be only water. Individuals can obtain their fluids from a variety of beverages and foods. Contrary to popular opinion, consumers do not need to consume "eight glasses of water a day" to meet their fluid needs.

However my own personal opinion, particularly for people trying to lose weight, is to encourage additional water intake whenever possible. I feel it helps to cleanse the body when weight loss and fat breakdown is occurring. I also know that it helps to keep the hands and mouth busy, so snacking is less. This is a form of behavior modification. I personally know that many people feel better when at least 4-6 glasses of plain old H2O is consumed to help meet total fluid needs.

oh wow thats a good question!

I've been counting anything with more than a cup of water in it as a glass of water such as tea, cordial etc.
Mmm i'm not a big drinker - i have a few tea a day and thats it - one of my goals is to drink more water

I would count it as water. There is no way I can drink 8 glasses of water a day, but if I drink 4 glasses of no calorie beverages- crystal light or diet pop- I can handle 4 glasses of water- so I count that as 8 glasses of water.

I wish, but I don't think so. I think when they say water, they mean water. I'm buying some fresh limes today to add to mine.
