Hi Kat - camp was great! but of course tiring and today I'm finishing up the paperwork and checklists. The weekend went way too fast - part of one day I spent cleaning up my room and getting it back in order... it was friendly chaos in there - but the kids had a great time. Yesterday started summer school/enrichment camp - it goes for 2 weeks and I work in the afternoons there. I'm using the mornings to put my room together - I moved from the third floor down to the first floor and still have boxes to put away because they had to make some improvements to the room and I couldn't unpack. Am also getting some of the beginning copying done.
Am still on track with SP - today is both a cardio and strength day and I plan to do both before I go in. I do much better when I do them in the morning and don't let them go until the afternoon or evening when I'm too tired. Last night I slept through several hours of tv on the sofa until the show I wanted to watch came on - think I missed half of that one, too - LOL - probably had something to do with getting up at 4 am with my husband before he left for a business appointment.
Am doing great on water and food - packing my lunch every day this week - it does help and I'm excited about where I am in the process. 9.5# to go until I reach 135# - and I'd really like to be there by September... we'll see - today I may try to jump rope for 5 minutes - LOL - hold that picture in your thoughts - will let you know how it goes. Have a great day - talk to you soon - LInda

HI Linda Hope you doing ok and that your fell better. How did your camp work out for you. I have been doing really good and staying on track. Its still busy around here. It has been really hot here and we need rain. When do you go back teaching school? I'm not looking forward to school starting this year. My daughter only has one year left. I know that she is ready to go out on her own, but I'm no ready to see her go. She has been such a great kid. Was it hard for you when your kids left home? I hope you been doing good talk to you soon Kat

Hi Linda Thank you for the encouragement I'm getting back on track. I need to plan ahead so I don't eat wrong any more. Way to go on your weight and getting your cholesterol down good job! Sorry to hear about your kidney infection I know that they can be very painful Well I hope that you have fun at your science camp I'm sure the kids will keep you busy.
Take care Kat

Hi Kat - you'll get it back together - those times when we have to do certain things are harder than others. The conference was awesome and I had a really good time. I actually maintained weight, and have lost more - in fact I need to post the new weight today - 145.5# (woo-woo for me!) - I'm the director of a science camp this week, so life is really hectic, plus I think I'm battling a kidney infection... am on antiobiotics but don't think they're working well enough - have to call the doctor's office this morning sometime... on a high note - losing the first 10# brought my cholesterol down 40 points!!!!! So maybe the next 10# will drop it some more (that old body fat relationship, you know?) Keep the faith, Kat, I know you'll get back on track - talk to you soon, Linda

Hi Linda How are you doing? Did you have a good conference? I have been haying and I have not done very well at all I'm not getting very much excercise and I'm up two pounds. It rain today so I'm hoping to get back on track. I hope all is well with you talk to you soon Kat

Hi Kat - today there was a downpour that was torrential - it rained, and rained, and rained, so no mowing for me today. Went to the lab this morning to do blood work - will probably get the results next week - hope all this hard work has helped bring my cholesterol down - we'll see! I'm doing well - today the scales actually hit 149# - celebrate, celebrate! - official weigh in is next week on Monday/Tuesday - so now I have a lot of great incentive to keep doing what I'm doing. I hadn't been to the doctor for a couple of years (regular doctor - I go to the cardiologist every year) and was actually down in weight - it was funny - they've just started a weight loss program there - and he asked what I'd done to lose 10# in a month - I told him SP - and you could see him visually check out - but he was impressed - and I feel great! Next week will be a challenge for me - I leave Tuesday for Boston - am in a conference Wed/Thur and fly home Friday morning - I decided I deserved not to fight traffic, etc. at Logan airport in Boston on a Thursday evening... so opted for one more day. Am definitely going to look for a hotel with a fitness center so that I can work out. I so want to get to the half way point this month - for me that's around 147# - my goal was to get there by the 15th - not sure if I'll make it or not. Tomorrow will be a mowing day if the rains don't deluge again - the grass is so green and looks so nice - plus it feels so good to see what I've accomplished. Good luck haying - I'm sure you'd like to get it put up. Talk to you soon - Linda

Hi Linda Hope your 4th of July was a good one. I have been very busy we started haying so I was cutting hay for a few days rained last night so we got a break today. It is hard to excercise on a tractor all day, but I do get my water in. I need to do some cleaning and donating too. I need to catch up on my yard work so maybe I will get a good workout. Hope your doing well talk to you soon. Take care Kat

Hi Kat - I'm doing well - lots of yard work because we've had rain - doing well on my calories and exercise, too. I need to shorten the jump rope because wrapping it around the handles doesn't make it short enough - LOL - it's great entertainment for anyone who's watching, however! It will have to be a goal for this week. We've had rain, so I've been trying to mow after the grass dries out in the morning and before it pours in the afternoon - sometimes that's not a very long window... but the grass is growing very well and green always looks better than brown. I mow an hour about 4x a week, and garden almost daily, too. I'm remulching beds - who ever thought gardening could be such aerobic exercise! Today I may take my bicycle out - it's the 4th of July here and a very busy day - still, I want to keep with my program, so I'm going to do strength training first, then walk on the treadmill. The other cardio will come from gardening (I have 15 bags of mulch to spread) and maybe some heavy cleaning - I decided that my "life" needs a clean-up, also - I have way too much stuff and need to do some serious sorting, donating, etc. Hope you have a good week - take care - Linda

Hi Linda How are you doing? I have been very busy, because July 1 is our Canada day and my son baseball tournament was this weekend. I was proud of the boys they went all the way and won gold. How is your jump rope going I have heard that it is good excercise too. Today I didn't get what I should have for calories, but did good on the water. It is very hot here. I cut hay almost all day. Hope you doing great and talk to you soon. Take care Kat

Hi Kat - I had a good day - did both my strength and cardio this morning, went to get my hair done, and then off to school for a couple of hours - trying to get some orders finished up for tomorrow. Also spent some time shopping - my daughter is getting married next summer and I want to pass some ideas by her for favors, etc. LOL - I bought a jump rope and a kitchen timer - should be interesting tomorrow morning - I understand it's a great exercise you master about 5 minutes at a time - will let you know! Stayed within my calorie range and drank my water, too - a great day! Next week's weigh in should be good for me - at least I hope so. Talk to you soon - LindaK

Hi Linda how are you doing? sorry I didn't reply, but I was away for a few days for work, but I'm off for two weeks now. You were right I had a great weigh in I'm down 3 more pounds. It sound like you had a good work out cleaning good job. I have never been to New Brunswick, but I heard it is really pretty there. Well I just got home and I should go unpack hope to hear from you soon. Kat

Hi Kat - well it poured rain here yesterday and that made it pretty difficult to work outside so I attacked my large kitchen pantry. Took everything off the shelves, scrubbed down the shelves, got rid of food that was either out of date or shouldn't be in there, vacuumed, and rearranged. I turned it into a real workout - hee hee - LOL - what a good thing to do! More rain today, but probably later in the day, so I think I may get some gardening in. What I'd like to see happen is to have the yard look so good by mid-August that I want to work in it when I get home from school. My mom lives in New Brunswick for most of the year - I may not get up there this summer, but I'm not giving up yet. Great work - I'm glad Wed. will probably be a good weigh in day for you. I'm hoping that next week I break the big 150# - I would so love that - can you see me dancing? Talk to you soon - Linda

hi Linda I live about an hour outside of Edmonton,Alberta. In Canada we don't have much of a summer. It lasts about three months. Thanks for the ideas I will try that. Sounds like you put a lot of hard work into your yard that got to help with weight loss. I had a busy weekend and I just had to step on that scale today I'm down to 180, but I don't do my weight in until Wed. We went out and I stayed on track. I know that changing my eating habits is hard, but I'm not eating my night time snacks just one fruit and that has helped. I hope you had a good day Take care Kat

Hi Kat - a couple of things I found that I really like are a "roll-up" of thin sliced ham and reduced fat swiss cheese (Sargento) - with a swipe of mustard, and making my salad in one of those 1 quart ziplock boxes (similar to what my mom used to freeze veggies in) and then have the tomato and dressing to add separately. I know that this school year I am going to have to be very careful about what I take to school to eat. I feel that I'm doing pretty well this summer - actually better than I expected, and do not want to go backwards! It's amazing how fast parenthood moves - our youngest graduated from college on June 3- that milestone seems to have unleashed the permission switch to work on my needs... I worked in the gardens today, mowed a little, and did my treadmill work. I do better when I get my exercises and cardio completed in the mornings - I'm hoping that my yard looks so great that I won't mind working on it when I get home in the evening. One of the things I'm having fun with is working on new recipes or modifiying old familiar ones - I have gumbo simmering on the stove - don't think the calories and nutrition are going to be good - just have to run by the store and pick up a couple more things to go into it. Where are you? We lived in Maine for 17+ years - moved to Florida 4 years ago - I grew up here and love it. Have a good rest of the weekend - LindaK

Hi Linda Good job on keeping the scale on a downward slide. I peeped today and I'm down 2 more pounds. My children are 17 and 15. They don't go back to school until after the Sept long weekend. We don't get much summer here so they get out for almost all of it. I know what you mean when you said parenthood move fast my daughter will be done school next year wow! I have been keeping on track this week. Next week I will working Wednesday& Thursday so I not going to be home. I find eating is hard on those days. I hope to plan ahead so I don't over eat. Hope you have a good weekend talk to you soon. Kat

Hi Kathy - glad you had a good day - I peeked at the scales this morning and am down another pound, so this week will be a good one for me. My day didn't quite go as planned- I went in to school to tutor and my student couldn't make it, but my room was ready a day early so I moved furniture for a couple of hours - it probably came out to a reasonable amount of cardio effort so I'm not so worried about getting the mowing and gardening in. There's always today and the weekend for sure. My children are grown - 22 and 26 - almost 27. Parenthood moves fast - catch it while you can! School's been out for me since a little after Memorial Day, but we'll be back in session in August - I have camps, summer school and in-service to begin work on in July. Since I have a new room, I'll be moving boxes downstairs and that will take some effort - even with the elevator and hand truck, I have lots of books and things to put away. Today is a work day at school for me - I'm going to try and get in at least a morning's worth of work - maybe every day until I'm finished. Have a great day - after coffee and some computer time I'm headed out to work on the treadmill. Linda

My garden takes up a lot of my time, but it is good excercise. Our your kids out of school already. My kids don't get out until June 28. How many children do you have?I have two. well I hope you had a good day talk to you soon Kathy

Hi Kat - yesterday was a great day, and unofficially I'm down one more # on the scale. I'm one of those people who checks every morning - it makes me feel better, so I do it. I mowed for about an hour yesterday, coming in every 15 minutes and drinking a bottle of water - it was in the 90's, so I was very careful to get enough fluids. I also attacked two garden beds - the ones lining my front walk where the grass was winning (it's off to Home Depot today to buy more liriope to fill in the gaps), and a round bed of ruellia - mexican petunias I think - a really pretty bed of purple flowers that had grown too high. Lots of repetitive arm motion with the big pruners - just holding htem up takes energy! I want to finish those today, and then work on a pointsietta bed - they grow as plants/shrubs/small trees here - not just for Christmas decorations. Weed and mulch - I'm hoping that I can build this into such a routine that I continue after school starts. If only knitting was a cardio exercise - one of the things I'm doing so that I don't eat at night is knitting again - it is a stress buster unless I drop a stitch, and I'm working steadily on a baby blanket. Have a good day - hope all goes well and congratulations on that weight loss - you go, girl! LindaK

Hi Linda Hope you had a good day I had a good weight in I'm down another three pounds. We live on a ranch we have never had a water restriction. A few years ago we had a drought and that hit us hard because we couldn't get enough feed so we welcome all the rain we are given now. I didn't get time to do much today I had to go to work but I know that I have lots to do tomorrow. Talk to you soon Take care Kat

Hi Kat, yes the weather is warm here much of the year. We lived in Maine for 17 years, so it's all relative, too - I'm pretty comfortable most of the time. Our yard was slow to take off this year because of lack of rain, but now it's really growing and I feel like I can plant new flowers. We have watering restrictions during droughts (they're still in place, I think), and are only supposed to water on Tuesdays for my address. Makes gardening a challenge. I didn't mow yesterday because there was lightning but will probably spend a couple of hours in the yard this afternoon - I'm trying to pace it out - basically making sure the front near the street is done very well and getting to the back in stages... Have a good day - LindaK

Hi Linda We have a big yard too. We live on a ranch I always seem to get more excercise in the summer, but summer is short here. You must have warm weather most of the time. Hope you have a good day. Take care Kat

Hi Kat - I live in Tampa, so we're familiar with hockey fever here - and I love to watch the game. Yesterday I walked on the treadmill, then later in the day mowed and gardened. I still have one more area to mow this afternoon, then will start all over again tomorrow (I have a very big yard!) - and I'll work on two of the gardens. Some I'm re-doing, some I'm just catching up on - there's a lot of work to be done. Good luck in your weigh in tomorrow - Linda

Hi Linda I weight myself in the mornings too before I eat anything, but now I am just doing it once a week maybe I will see better results I guess I will see Wed. Had a busy day today I worked outside in the yard and garden that should help weight loss. Tonight we all watch the hockey finals We live in Alberta and are big Oilers fan oh well maybe next year. I hope that you had a good day. Take care Kat

| Hi Kat - I weigh every morning before coffee or anything - I find that for me I need to at least look at the scale because my weight gets away from me so quickly - it's a quirky habit, but time has shown... Linda
|

|
Hi Linda Great job on your results. Thanks for your support. I weight in Wed. It is very hard not to weight myself everyday.Your dinner sounds good. I had a salad so I didn't go over after eating a hambuger after I plugged in my meals I fell short for the day. I was not hungry so this was good. Have a great day and enjoy your results. Take care Kat

Great job, Kat - I find it's easier when I plan things out (okay, sometimes I over plan) - last night we had steak for Father's Day dinner, corn, green beans, and jello w/ SF coolwhip for dessert. I plugged my data in and came out where I wanted to be in the calories range - yeah - I was so happy! Have a good week - today was measure day and there were great results - LindaK

Hi everyone how is everyone doing I know that weekends can be very busy and its hard to stay with a good eating plan. Hey Linda the kids did good they come in third and played hard. I'm the coach so I did the warm up stretches with the kids they played four games over the weekend. I ate hambugers both days for dinner that all they had, but I took watermelon and apples so I could eat some fruit. Hope eveyone had a good weekend and father day. Take care Kat

Hi Kat - hope you enjoy the ballgame - maybe you can walk around some, too, to get some laps in. I'm going to try and work in the yard if it doesn't rain to add some extra workout - plus today is strength exercise day which I do not enjoy at this point but hope to sometime in the future. Last night at Sam's Club I was happy that the sample people had put away all their tasty no-no's - they're not really no-no's, but I don't want to waste my calories on salt and fat at this point. Have a great weekend - Linda

Hi Linda Knitting is a good idea it keeps your hands busy. I think that I'm not hungry at night its just a habit. If I keep my self focus on the end result I know I can change that habit. This weekend my son has a ball tournament. They don't have very healthy food, so I'm packing my food for the day. Hope you enjoy your weekend. Take care Kat
