I think I read somewhere that the reason they don't use strength training as part of the calories burned goal is because it varies so much for each person that it's not something easily tracked. It's not that it doesn't burn a significant amount of calories.
You can enter your own strength training exercises though on the last tab when you click on "add strength training" if you wanted to.
Either way sounds like you're doing great with your workout and enjoying yourself, so keep it up!

| Well, I decided to count 45 minutes of my complete workout of 1 hr. 15 minutes toward my "calories burned" goal. My heartrate was up pretty consistant and I worked really hard, not half way like other people I see at the gym. It gave me 432 calories toward my goal this week. (Probably was more, but I think it is better to be conservative.) I still checked the boxes for the abwork and ball exercises because that could account for the rest of my workout. Thanks for all the advice!

| I think it can technically be both. If you are doing circuit training you are usually going at a fast enough pase to keep your heart rate up so it would count as cardio as well as strength training.

well I weight train 3 times per week and do cardio 5 times a week. I do cardio to burn the fat so I stay within 60 to percent of my maximum heartrate ( it took awhile for me to get there) You just can't do that with weight training,(I'm talking about pumping iron) although if you are new to it you will feel like you have ran a marathon and lifted weights. either way it does a body good, keep up the good work

| If I remember right from flipping through the cardio section there is a place to enter "circuit training" as cardio. If you're lifting fast and keeping your heart rate up you're killing 2 birds with 1 stone.

| I am still fairly new and am wondering if going to the gym and lifing weights on the circuit counts as "Cardio" or as "Strength training". I have been posting it as "Strength training" but is is frustrating because the I can find similar exercises on the site but it uses mostly balls and bands and I am using heavy weights. There seems to be a difference. I wish I could just have a box to "check" saying "I did my weight training today!" On the other hand, I went to the gym today and spent an hour doing the complete circuit today as well as abs and some free weights, and I know I burned quite a few calories because I have been starving all day...shouldn't this count towards some of my calories burned?? If anyone has any advice on this, let me know!
