| Hello all I just found this Forum, and I am glad I found it. We are stationed in Albuquerque, NM. Anyone else station in Albuquerque?

| Thanks. My husband is going on his first deployment since we've had kids and it is a very different feeling. He has left before but not for this long. And when he left before it was when we had no kids. We now have two beautiful children. One is 4 years and the other will be 1 on Friday. I've been going to the gym three times a week but now that he is getting ready to leave I'm getting worried about being able to stay on track. We just moved overseas so I don't know alot of people yet so I can't just drop the kids with a babysitter and go to the gym three times a week but walking around the neighborhood will be difficult to as it's getting cold out and my son doesn't do good in the cold weather.

Andrea, yes you are going to have some adjusting to do when your soldier is gone and hope you find support for that. Your little one is sooooo cute! Your site shows you have done great with you lose so far, you go girl . Any one thing working for you? If so, share the good news with us. Feel free to contact again and I will keep you and the other wives in my prayers.

I can't belive all the Oklahomans on here! My husband is just in the reserve, but I imagine it will feel very much full time when he's redeployed - probably in the next year or two. We live in OKC, but we have friends on base at Sill. His unit drills in Gruber, in Tulsa, but (like all Rangers, I guess) they are still tied in to Fort Bragg pretty closely. His civilian job has him traveling 3-4 days a week, so I'm getting a little taste of what it will be like to have him gone. It's really scary. Right now, the concept of being a military wife is still pretty abstract. He's unlikely to be sent anywhere I could follow, so it's not a matter of moving around - just of being left behind.
More later when I've caught up on the rest of this thread.

| Hello Oklahomians. I moved here from CT two years ago. My son and his family are here at Fort Sill, OK with the army and that was the biggest reason I moved here. Much to hot here for me but my grandkids make it bearable. I know how tough it is on you military mates because I see it with my daughter-in-law and give you all a lot of credit. Good luck and if you'd like to talk sometime, fell free to give me a hollow.

| I live in Lee's Summit, Missouri right now, but before being deployed and when he comes home we are stationed at Ft. Sill in Lawton Oklahoma. Last time I went on the soup diet I lost 12 pounds, but right now I am only on the third day. I will let you know!

I know what you mean about being bored and eating. Being a stay at home mom of three boys I really shouldnt be bored but i am. What sucks is being over weight and our husbands are all in shape and looking good. Wish we could go to pt with them. I cant wait to be skinny again. You will have to tell me how much weight you lose I came across that diet on the internet but wasnt sure if it worked or not. Nicole

| My daughter was four months when my husband left and I lost about 26 pounds before my husband came home on RR. I know you can do it! I lost that weight from doing the every other day diet. I would diet every other day and do cardio. I loved it and it helped me not crave a bunch of food. This helps me because I always eating when I am bored and this site helps me talk instead of eat. The soup diet is the cabbage soup diet. I am burned out of cardio, so I am trying to find something else that will keep me in shape. military life is hard, but I love it also.

Hi Sanford. Thanks for the welcome. It is very hard being a military wife. My husband has been in the military for a little over 5 years. military life is a lot different then civilian life. I like though. Congrats on all the weight you have lost. My baby is 4 months old now so I need to get my butt in gear. I so dont feel comfortable with myself. You will have to tell me about how the soup diet works. I've been thinking about doing the cabbage soup diet just to get me started. Nicole

NICOLE241 & JJBRICKR Welcome! I am glad you guys have joined us in this group! I am also apart of military WIFE and that's a good group. I always talk on all the groups because it helps me out. My husband is in the military and I have only been an army wife for 5 years. I hate when my husband is gone, but overall I love the military. I have two children and I am looking to lose about 25 more pounds before my husband comes home. When he went to Iraq in 2005 I was 201 and then when he came back I was 175 and now I am down to 165. Sparkepeople can really help! I am on the soup diet right now and hope to lose 10 pounds this week. I was doing 60 - 80 minutes of cardio a day, but I am now worn out and trying something new.

Hello. I was looking for a military wives chat and found this one. My husband is currently deployed and I'm looking to lose 30 pounds before he gets back. It's challenging for me because I, like most, am a stress eater. I live for chips and chocolate cake. My husband left Friday and my four year old is taking it really hard. She'll be fine and then she'll start to cry and tell me she wants her daddy. It brings tears to me eyes. I calm her down and just want to go grab some chocolate to make us both feel better. Today, however, I started my diet plan and we reached for an apple and kiwi this afternoon when we were feeling a bit down. I don't know if it'll last though. I hope to hear from you all. I was talking with another military spouse and we were thinking of setting up a challenge. Anyone interested?
Tammy

| I want to lose the weight for the same reason. When my husband came home on RR the look in his eyes were great. When he left for Iraq I was 201 and when he came back I was 170! I am trying to get down to 140 before he comes home in Nov.

| Did you like recruiting? That what my husband wants to do. He said anything is better then being away from familiy every other year.

now that you metion it i think it was by prescription. the dr. wrote it but within 2 days they called me to schedule. it was really easy to get into. i am the kind of person who just spends time with my kids and honey so i wasn't sure at first to go and make new friends. then i figured you know, everyone is here for the same reason so there is no reason to be embarrassed. some of the members would tell things that would help them and give advice on what worked for them. there is one thing of excersise that i do know that is almost a miracle that works so fast . unless you do it yourself you probably would not believe me. i just hope it is healthy. it is called body flex. it looks rediculous to do but in the first week, i lost over 8 inches. it takes about 10 minutes a day. you can probably look it up on the internet. it does beet walking in circles.

| I know that the NACC and the base fitness center have worked out a program between them but I believe you need a prescription to do the full thing. We do have trainers at the fitness center that you can work with and a walking group but I haven't managed to try to meet up with them. They walk around the track and I hate going in circles. The guys who privatized our housing do walks on Fridays around the neighborhoods and that sounds more interesting to me. I do like knowing about the options out there in case I want to take advantage of them.

| hey everyone, i am a wife of an arny man. he has done more than his share of everything. he was in the guard and then in active duty for 9 years. after that he rejoined the guard and now he is active national guard. he has been here at ft.irwin in california for 1 1/2 years active. they are planning on extending it another year. we too have no family here in town. it is just me and the kids. between the 2 of us we have 8 kids. i spend so much time with them that i don't think about me. they started a program at the post were you go in once a week and weigh in. they do blood test to check your cholesterol and so on. they also have a walking group that meets 3 times a week. it is real nice to have people together to support you. it is kind of comparable to weight watchers.do any of you have anything like this available to you? i do love this site though . they only meet once a week so it is good to have people to talk to here.

That has to be hard. I know when we were recruiting we didn't have any family support in the area. A few other wives and I took it upon ourselves to get something going but we were spread across Tucson, AZ so it was hard. Getting together once in a while helped, though. I don't know if you could hook up with a group of wives from Japan or not but you might check out Yahoo groups to see if there is one. I know there are at least 3 groups for wives coming to the Groton area on there and they accept members who are considering orders or have orders but aren't in the area yet. It's a good way to hook up with friends before you get to the area and to get questions answered by people who have made that move.

| I'm also a military wife, have been for 8 years this August. We just recently moved away from family and it's hard to stay in the habbit of eating right. I had friends that I would work out with during the week but just getting to a new area is hard because we don't know anyone yet. It would be great if they would do a daycare so to say at a gym on one of the bases.
