| Wow, you guys all give some really great advice. My goal for these first couple weeks is to get some cardio 5 days a week and drink 8 glasses of water a day. I also have the walk away the pounds! I will also be using that on crummy days.

I found this great tape called "walk away the pounds" it is what I am going to use when the weather isnt so good outside and so that I dont freeze out in the rain we are having right now, in Colorado.
hope you reach your goal of 20 minute walks.
Good luck! and Thanks for those who have left other messages to help me on my way.

| Thanks for the advice about walking. I'm definitely going to try and get at least 20 minutes of walking in. Now that the weather is better (in Michigan) I should be able to walk outside.

Welcome!
Water is definitely your best friend! I was amazed that most times when I went for a snack, I was really thirsty. Drinking a lot definitely curbs my munchies, but also knowing I have a fridge full of yummy fruits and veggies helps, too, because I know I can munch to my heart's content without wasting too many calories!
You can do this!

| It's hard for me to turn down sweets too (sugar is my favorite). The best way is what everyone says; if you simply must have it, have a small portion. Buy an individual cupcake and you'll only have one to eat! Plus it gets really expensive to buy small portions; that's what holds me back.

| It is very encouraging to hear that it seems easy after a week because turning down candy, or any food, after a stressful day is hard for me but I think with everyone standing behind me I will be able to stay on top of this diet thing.

| It's very encouraging to know I'm not the only one trying to live healthier. Thanks for the support and good vibes. Week One almost done and it's easier than I thought.

thank you guys for welcoming me to the site and for giving me ideas on how to stay on top of my diet and how I can reach my goal. I am going to go shopping this weekend and by good healthy food and just trash all of the junk food in my house.

Hi! Welcome! I just started 3 days ago. I have found that doing everything on the SparkPoints list, like tracking my food, and earning points for exercise, has kept me focused and motivated. It just seems doable to me and I feel like I can see the progress I am making even though I am not losing weight yet.
Good luck to you! I am sure you will do great!

Hey, welcome to the community!
I started about a month ago and the site is totally addicting. As far as healthy eating goes, the best thing I can say is that if you don't buy that bag of cookies or other junk food item, you won't eat it. Instead, keep lots of fruits and vegetables around. I also cook a big batch of brown rice and keep it in the fridge so it's always available. Walk whenever you can and don't beat yourself up over a "slip up". Every day is a new start.
Good luck!
