Thank you so much to all of you. I am doing pretty good so far with everything but I have a long way to go. I am trying to look at it as baby steps so I don't get overwhelmed. I really like this website and have found alot of support!

Hi Amy,
I quit smoking about 14 months ago and it is by far the best and healthiest decision I have ever made. I don't know if TN has a quitnet.com, but I highly recommend it. By the way, your state is beautiful! I love that drive from Memphis to Chatanooga.
I live in CO (which goes smoke free July 1st, except the casinos..go figure), and we have one(co.quitnet.com) and without it, I don't know if I would have succeeded. That is how I heard about Sparkpeople, as I gained 40 pounds after I quit. Now I'm trying to lose that and change my lifestyle. I am a puff away from a pack a day so my motto is NOPE (Not One Puff Ever). By the way, your daughter is beautiful! Best of luck in your own journey.

Hi Amy,
Welcome and congratulations on Halli turning 6 months old! I am always so amazed at how quickly it really passes by. I have two daughters (3.5 and 2). Enjoy every minute of it!!! Let me know if you have any questions! Good luck in your journey to quit smoking. With the right motivation, you can do anything! Hang in there and let me know if I can do anything to help!
Be well, Kelly

| Hi, your are right about these boards they are full of help and advice...I am always amazed at how smart young people are to give up bad habits to form good ones for the children and themselves. It took me twice as long and having my children gone to get me to look at myself. Pat yourself on the back for being so insightful so young!

I was stumbling aroung on the message boards and ran into you ladies! I read a few of the entries and you all seem so nice and supportive. My name is Amy and I am the very proud mother of a 6 month old named Halli. Actually she is 6 mos. old today!
I would love to be able to say that I gained all my weight because of pregnency. The truth is it has always been there. I have struggled with my weight most of my life. I took Prednisone (a steroid for my asthma) alot when I was a child and I gained so much weight so fast. It never went away.
Now I have motivation that I have never had before. I am 26 years old and I have time to make changes in my life before it is too late. I want to be a healthy example for my family and I don't want my daughter to deal with the things I have had too. I want to play with her and not get too tired. Mostly I just want to be around for her like my mom has been here for me.
I hope that you all do not mind if I join you in here everyday. I am online quite a bit now while Halli naps. It keeps me occupied-- I am trying to quit smoking as well! I would love the support and advice.
