I've definitely done a lot of dieting and usually I've lost weight on all of them. I think the longest I maintained the low weight was something over 2 years.
This time is different though. For one thing I don't think of this is as a diet. So there's really nothing for me to stop doing nor is there anything for me to resume doing. I haven't deprived myself of anything.
I can't say that I totally ignore the scales but I don't feel that any particular weight is a goal. Oh, I'd like to be thinner and weigh less but it is not something I worry that much about.
Another really significant difference is that I've been exercising regularly for a really long time now - more than 5 years - and its something I miss if I can't do it. And what I do for exercise is fun to me - not at all work.
I don't have any time limits this time either.
I think the most important change probably is that somehow my perception of myself has changed. I don't think of myself as a "short fat guy" which was how I used to tell people I didn't know who to look for at a first meeting.

| I don't know why I feel more 'willpower' because I know I have to enter something into the site.

| I think tracking foods is important but so is exercise. The fact that the content on the site is good and there is a community also keeps me coming back and that helps.

The biggest factor for me was the food tracker. Being able to see what I was eating and learning just how bad many of the foods were. After tracking what I ate everyday for 9 months I've learned how to eat proper proportions and avoid large amounts of the bad foods.
The second factor is the community here. Being so involved with SP has held me more accountable. I don't want to let myself down, but I also don't want to let any of the SP Members down. So many people have said I've been inspirational, and I like that. I don't want to mess it up.

I'm just curious. I assume most of the guys here are like me and have tried numerous times before to lose weight/get in shape. So why do you think you're being successful this time?
For me, the constant looking at things on this site really has done it for me. I've been 'serious' before, but this time, I said I'm done and with the help of the constant tracking for SP, I've been very successful.
What about you?
