| Thanks Rocetop, it helps me to know where I've been and it motivates me to never get there again. I'm starting to have lots and lots of energy. And I like that feeling very much. Hope you have a great night.

| Tanita says their scales are relatively accurate, to within a couple %. I know it's not exact, but in relation to where I started I can observe how my body fat is progressing.
| I keep adjusting down too. Sometime, perhaps this June, am thinking of getting a complete fitness workup, V02 Max, Max HR etc. It will be interesting to see what my body fat is. My scale says it's somewhere between 19 and 20% but we know those are not reliable numbers. I'd like to get to 14-16% but w/o knowing what I really am it is hard to know what weight to aim for.

| thanks losingit. And you are off to the races yourself. Do not look back. - well it helps sometimes to see where you were but you know what I mean.

Hey Matt,
I'm not sure where I might end up weight wise but I agree with you that there will always be something to improve apon. I sure makes me happy that I was able to get into a mindset about eating and exercise. It is the one thing that will allow me to be successful. What a confidence booster this all is.

Jeff,
I hear ya on adjusting. My original goal was to go from 265 to 200 in one year. I dropped the 65lbs in 9 months and felt it wasn't good enough. I then dropped another 25+ lbs in the following 3 months to hit my lowest weight of 172. Even at 172 I wasn't happy with my body fat %. I was obviously happy to beat my original goal. But I don't think I'll ever be satisfied with where I'm at. I'll be happy, but not satisfied. I always want to improve, but that's just my nature.

| Last Thanksgiving I was at my heaviest 268lbs. I started on my own eating slightly less but with zero exercise I made it to 250 or so. On Jan 15 I found SP and now weigh in at 220. I have a goal of 210 but I'm going to have to ajust that down to maybe 190.

| Well, the last pound is arbitrary but it would be nice to see it :-)

| Sam - I'm curious if the last pound really matters. I'm not sure what it'll be like when I get that close, I kinda have a 'range', not a 'specific' goal. My first goal is around 250. I figure my weight will fluctuate +/- 5 pounds if I stick with everything.

| After 10lbs, I have really started feeling a seeing a difference. My resting heart rate has decreased from low 60s to low 50s.

| Stick with it Samsdad. Your doing great.

I've gone from 178 with slightly elevated BP and cholesterol to 160 with OK to low cholesterol and the last time they took my pulse BP the nurse was worried until I told her about my cardio. Then they just said "great job".
My goal is 158. I've seen 159 but getting that last pound or two off is tough.

| Thanks guys, this gives me alot to look forward too. I was at the point before I found this site, I might as well realize that I ain't ever going to lose this weight. I'm going to have these problems all my life. Now that I'm up exercising alot, I don't want to stop.

| I didn't have a lot of data points, so it's hard to say. I did recently have a physical, and had some interesting numbers. I have never had high BP or terribly high Cholesterol/triglycerides. Now my TOTAL cholesterol is 92.. HDL is actually lower than it should be, but LDL is fine. Tri's were ok as well. Fasting glucose was in the 90's somewhere.

When I was 52 (2000) and weighed 370, my blood pressure was 170/110 on average, my fasting glucose was in the 140-160 range, my cholesterol was 280, and my resting heart rate was 95. 30 pounds later, blood pressure was 140/95, glucose 120, and cholesterol 240.
Last week, blood pressure: 105/70, glucose 76 (A1c=5.2), cholesterol 180 (HDL=82), resting heart rate 56. Weight: 232. treadmill stress test: anaerobic threshold and V02 max in 95th percentile for age group. (These numbers have been steady there for about 18 months now). Never took medications for any of these problems--just lots of cardio exercise and low saturated fat diet, heavy on fruits, veggies, whole grains (especially oatmeal) and Peanut Butter :)
But then there's the arthritis and wierd neck/spine problems (vertebral compression fractures, etc) from all those years of lugging around way too much weight--they aren't going away. So, don't wait til your 50 to lose it, if you don't have to.

| 25-35 lbs gone, BP is nice and low now and I need to have my cholesterol checked soon but I now expect it to be at a healthly value as well
I have our school nurse check my BP almost weekly. Today's check had me at 112 over 61. She says it's like one of the teen in our building.
I have not seen it that low in my life. I've also been on high BP meds since I was seventeen, almost 24 years. The change in lifestyles has been incredible. In fact, today is the three month anniversary since I started.
One day at a time.

| I never had high blood pressure, but mine is even lower now. I would say after 10 lbs you should notice some minor changes, by 20 lbs you'll notice some big changes, and by 30 lbs you'll be a new person! =)
| Did you all see a difference in your health. Like lower blood pressure, lower cholesterol or any other health factors. Just curious to see what everyone says. This might also be a question for the one's that have lost 10, 20, 30 lbs or more.
