I have been on this diet for almost 2 weeks and the thing that works for me most is if I get bored and feel I need to eat snacks I DO go to the refrigerator. But, not to get food. I look at the picture I put on there (a cute girl in a bikini smiling; I know I can be that soon) and that is enough to stop my cravings. That also gives me better self control to be right in the kitchen and not go snack crazy. Another thing I do is come on here to the Resource Center and just read. I get so into reading articles, I totally forget I was craving snacks! I love reading so anything that keeps my head in books is good.

This just happened to me over the weekend. It was spring cleaning and the family and I were cleaning. I grabbed junk food and ate it and I didn't even realize I was eating it until I was through. I know that sounds weird, but I ate some cold pizza that was sitting on the table and after I ate it, I thought, "What did you just do?" I felt bad. The only consolation I have is that I really worked hard cleaning and maybe that lessened the damage.

I am trying to take it one meal at a time and one day at a time. Trying to realize what I put in my mouth. I know it is strange to eat something and not even realize it, but it is true.

Perhaps you can do an excersize or two out of the fitness centre. I haven't been here long, but it's helped me stop thinking about food already. And 12 lifts of a dumbell (or rather canned beans, in my case) isn't too bad :)

hey guys. i am the same way, i always turn to junk when i am bored. i have changed the junk to apples, but there are only so many apples a person can eat. i also picked up knitting and find that keeps my hands busy or i will call someone and chat, there is nothing worse than hearing someone chew in your ear, that helps too.

Maybe set a timer for 10-15 minutes and balance your check book, straighten your magazine rack, make the bed, fold laundry, do anything that will physically keep you busy for that time and see then afterward if you still feel the need to eat, if yes, try a glass of water first.

chew gum.
drink a glass of water and wait 10 min before eating.
brush your teeth.
munch on veggies.

Hope this helps.

I am new here, but I wanted you to know that I completely understand. I have found that when I have nothing to do I want to eat. What I have been trying to do is focus in (when those moments arise) on doing something around my house that I might not normally do, like cleaning something really well or organizing a room. Lately, that hasn't worked well either, lol! Honestly, I don't really know how to handle it most of the time. I am just continuing to pick myself and keep trying because eventually I have to get it right.

stop being bored ( I'm not being a wise gal) Find something you like to do and do it. Do a task that needs to be done,
pick up a hobby. learn a new skill, take a walk. I wish you well
