Great job BJFLITCRAFT on making the numbers yesterday and today. Thats all that I have been doing all along with the strength training, just going through the motions. Just showing up to do something, almost anything, everyday adds up to alot of results.

Just did 60 pushups and have yet to start my crunches. Maybe I should get after it, I have 2 hrs of basketball scheduled for tonight.

First day I was able to meet the challenge. I'm feeling it. Keep showing up and going through the motions. Great day, also 100 minutes of biking!

So the 5% challange starts Sunday. For those who missed it, the challange is to do 5% more cardio each week. Of course you wion't be able to keep this up indefinitly and you'll need to watch for over-training but it will be fun to see how far we can go.

Based on my minutes this week my goal for next week will be 437 minutes. I plan to start with a long bike ride tommorow to kick it off.

State your weekly goal here and we can all cheer each other on!

Michael

P.S. finally hit 300 crunches/60 pushups today. Aiming for the 500/100 by weeks end.

Alright, I'm going to jump on the crunches bandwagon here. My goals sound pretty rough, but I am definitely not used to crunches. (Unfortunately because of my surgery I won't be able to do pushups for another month or so.)

I'm going to aim for 100 crunches/day. I'll add it to my other goals checklist, because I don't know about you guys, but I get a huge sense of satisfaction marking off those checkboxes.

Thanks KE7CWM
Sticking to this isn't as hard when you start seeing the results. This nchallenge seems to shock my abs, and it's working. waist has gone done 1 inch in one week. Now I know that it will slow down but it sure gives you a good feeling when you can measure the results.

Hey BJFLITCRAFT,

Awsome job-way to stick with it!

It just keeps getting better and better the longer you stay with it. I can do about 250-300 crunches and maybe 50-60 pushups at a time. It took me 4-5 weeks to build up to that. Keep up the good work. My daily totals for this challenge are:
125 push-ups
500 crunches
50 swiss ball crunches

Crunches-400
Pushups- 90

I got my first set of 100 on crunches today, just had to gut it out. Oh is that a pun.
Great day, feel stonger than I did 1 1/2 weeks ago when I found this Message board.

Also 90 minutes on the bike.

Matt,
I am not much of a golfer at all but the Eugene Country Club is defenatly the premier course in town. Fiddlers claim to fame is their pro shop, its huge and IM sure they do big business out there. My next door neighbor is the owner/operator. They have 18 holes but they are all par three if I remember right. Tokatee is another world class course nearby.

The name sounds very familiar. I may have seen a job advertisement for it in the past. I don't know much about it though. I have done a little research on Eugene Country Club and found they seem to be a pretty nice facility and hold some good size events there.

Matt,
Sounds great, my schedule is very flexable and the country club is only about 10-12 min from here. Have you heard of Fiddlers Green golf course and pro shop here in Eugene?

Jeff,

You're welcome, any time I can help just let me know. Hey, I may be coming your way one of these days. I submitted a resume to Eugene Country Club and they seem pretty interested so far. I'll keep you informed and if I go there for an interview maybe we can get together.

Jeff,

=) I remember that feeling. The unfortunate thing is that I'm still considered overweight. People laugh when I tell them that, but thats only based off my BMI. According to my BMI I need to be at 164 lbs to be "healthy". If I weighed 164 I'd look sick. lol

ok this makes more sense now. I did go through and change some stuff about my goals and was able to save all data. I did not realise that it could be so fluid. Very cool. One thing I notice in the reset screen today was my BMI is 29.6, I'm only overweight not obese. I never thought I would be proud to say I'm overweight Thanks Matt and SAMSDAD

2.26 lbs is good. -12 lbs is recommendation for a healthy weight loss, but the more you weigh, the more you can lose and still maintain health. Plus, you're eating well and exercising A LOT. That just leads to weight loss. As samsdad said, you have youre choice to keep your goals or reset. I go through my setup a couple times a month based the amount of exercise I'm getting.

When you set new goals you have the option to retain the old dates. If you choose that you won't loose the data.

Thanks Matt,

Going through the set up might be a good idea. I should reach my 210 lb goal well ahead of the June 17th date and at that point I will go through the set up process again. I feel that it is important for me to continue with what I have until I reach my current goal. I just did the math and I am averaging 2.26lbs of weight loss per week. That might be slightly high but I feel great.

Will I lose all my data history when I set new goals?

Jeff,

Yeah, they use that figure so they can achieve a semi-accurate suggestion for caloric intake. If you're burning more than that, as you are, they suggest going through the set-up process and entering your average for calories burned in a week. It will then spit out a higher suggestion for caloric intake.

Hey Matt,

I thought that it was a recommendation. My fitness page says burn 860/90 calories/minutes per week and this week I have burned up 4980 cardio calories with another 1000-1500 calories to go tonight and the same scheduled for tomorrow night. The 860 per week was to meet my goal of 210lbs by 6-17-06. What do you think?

SP doesn't truely "recommend" a certain amount. It's more of a baseline that you should get SOME amount of exercise. The base amount they suggest tends to be around 3 days a week, 30 minutes each time. You're better off entering your own info for what you think you burn per week.
SAMSDAD
4/25/06 3:46 P

It will be very hard (in fact impossible) to maintain over the long run. But anytime you slide back you just pick up from there and understand that that is built into the challenge.

BTW: I didn't know SP had a recommended amount.I thought their philosophy was "don't overtrain, but otherwise, the more the merrier."
KE7CWM
4/25/06 3:26 P

Ok, so completely throw out the SP recommended amount and just do 5% more of whatever you're doing. Thats going to get hard quick. I think Im already doing 4 times the amount they want.
SAMSDAD

Don't forget that that 5% will compound like interest. It may not sound like much but give it some time :-)

Great idea!!! I love building on stuff we've done in the past. 5% doesn't sound like much, but if it wasn't then why didn't we do that much last week? hehehe I'm in for it!

How about this as a challange? Do 5% more time on cardio than the previous week. Take this week as the baseline and start on Sunday.
