Just a thought to make you all laugh: My stepmother-in-law is 15 years younger than my father-in-law, and she waited until she was almost 40 to have a child. She says now,"Everybody told me I was crazy, and they were right - I live with a senior citizen and a teenager, and I'm going through menopause !"

I honestly wish I could offer some coping techniques, but truth is not one woman in my family(in the last 3 generations before me anyway) has entered menopause naturally. All were surgically induced via complete hysterectomies.

I was the first in the family believe it or not to have a tubal ligation done and as such the only one unblessed with Ovarian Isolation Syndrome.

Fibroid tumors do run in the family though and all had their surgeries done in their early to mid 40's. My mom is on HRT and has been since her surgery was done in 1987.

I know one way or another I'll be hitting menopause in the next 10 years or so. I am so tired of irregular periods, mood swings, hot flashes, bloating, you name it. I'll be glad to not have to dread it anymore!!!

I am 33 and I am perimenopausal. I had a tubal ligation 4 years ago and blood supply to one of my ovaries was damaged it's called ovarian isolation syndrome and it causes the hormone levels to drop off and go wacky and brings about menopause.

If I follow suit with my mom, my grandma, great grandma and aunt then I will be undergoing a hysterectomy within the next 10 years anyway. All had them done due to fibroid tumors. My aunt tried a different route first which involved treatment to shrink the fibroids but eventually ended up having to have a total hysterectomy she also had endometriosis as do I.

One way or another I sure won't miss old aunt Flo LOL

peremenopause can start more than ten years before true menospause. hiccups in the hormones, then evens out for a bit then more hiccups... so annoying.

I thought I was perimenopausal, too, until my last check-up. My doctor( a woman) told me that the average age to begin menopause is 52. I'm still more than 10 years away from that, but my moods are beginning to get the best of me. I've been thinking of trying one of those menopause testers that works just like a pregnancy test kit. Has anyone tried those ?

Ugh. Being in my thirties is fabulous except now that I am nearing the end of my thirties perimenopause has struck. Any of you having the same issue? It is frustrating and difficult when overnight clothes dont fit just due to hormones!!!
