| Hello, I am in the Air National Guard and I have a nine year old daughter. I was married to an active duty A.F. guy, but he decided one of the girls we work with was better than me. So I have been a single mommy for 6 years now. I still love being in the military.

Hi everybody,
I am too an army wife and an ex-soldier myself, my husband has been in the army for 17 years and i did 8 years myself but being that we have four children, 7 year old twin girls, 2 year old boy and 6 month old baby it was best that one of us got out, so since he is closer to retirement than me i'm out and a stay at home mom for the last year, I really miss the army though....

| Nurse_T even though it is coming close to six monthes since you posted this message it means that its half over and your on the final strech before he is home. I can relate to how your feeling from both sides of the situation you are facing. My husband and I being dual military in the Army. I did a deployment in 2003 and now my husband is on his second deployment. I'm here in the states taking care of our four month old son. Facing a deployment again myself not all that soon after he returns later this year. To all the military spouses out there bless you and GODs speed to all your moments.

| Hello to all the military wives!! I am one myself my husband is in the marines and been deployed 4 times in the last 7yrs. We have two little boys the first is 5yrs and we were blessed with number two in May of this year. I totally understand about the wanting to look great when they come home, my dh deployed when our first was only 3mo old and came home as he was turning 1. I killed myself ( with all the wrong ways) to look good when he came home. The problem with doing that is when you start eating again it all comes back. I am promising myself that loosing this pegnancy weight is going to be done the right way and not be just another diet but a life change. We just moved (again) but we are now not in a "Special" unit and can really concentrate on being a somewhat normal,if military life ever is,family. I wish you all luck in your weight loss journeys. I welcome all your prayers and encouragement as I go about my quest!!

| Hi, I just joined spark people to try to drop a few pounds before my husband returns from Iraq in June. Thank you for your posts about your husbands, your struggles and your motivations. My DH has been in Iraq since June '05 as a combat firefighter. He was in the guards for 16 years until his job forced him out 5 years ago. With a love for the fire service and the military - last year he chose to leave his job and do his part. I have had little support from family and have not met one woman with a husband overseas. Needless to say - this year has made me depressed and caused me to develop horrible eating habits. I'm trying to snap out of it and get on track for my life to begin again. When my husband left I had to quit my job and move away with my toddler son. For 11 months my life has been on hold. When it begins again in 6 weeks - I would love to start with a brand new me - one that has energy and feels good about my body.

Hi Nurse_T, I am a navy wife also; my husband has been in the Navy for 24 years. I am a mom of 2 boys and one girl ages 22, 19 and 17. I to am also an emotional eater but I found it easier for me to follow a diet while my husband was away than home. He has never had a weight problem and is a meat and potato man so to speak. Just know that we are here for you and check with some of the other wives whose husbands are deploying with your husband. Perhaps you can put together a group to go on daily walks or out to exercise. Good luck and keep in touch. Thanks to your husband.

Syd, I am thankful that your hubby returned safely. Grew up in a military family. We lived in Germany, Texas, Mississippi and my dad retired in OK. (of course my dad and mom lived lots of other places before I was born. Mass,Arkansas,Arizona. My bro is now in the AF and has been stationed in Colorado and now CA but currently serving in Afganistan. I started sparks in end of Feb/beginning of March. I love it. I needed to find me again. So on the road to a lifestyle change.
Hi, ladies Tiffany I hope that your husband doesn't get deployed either. Especially with your little one. My bro is stationed in CA also very far from his family. Tough since his family and best friends all live in OK. My brother's wife had her baby early two weeks early. Got a email from bro in Afganistan yesterday. It must be really hard on him not being able to be there. He will be gone three more months. But they talked before she left for the hosptial. Poor thing was by herself. Her mom wasn't scheduled to get there until next week. So a neighbor watched their two year old. But the baby arrived safely. Thank Goodness. I sure do miss him. I think once he gets back on America soil I will feel better. I am keeping all of your family in my prayers. Jennifer

Hi All!! Military wife here too! My hubby is in the AF, although he was an Army Brat, tryin to fill Daddy's shoes, he retired as a colonel. We have a 3mth old baby girl, I'm a sahm, which I love, although, everyday since he's joined I fear him being deployed. I don't want to live w/o him. I feel so bad for you Army Wives!! Atleast my hubby will only be gone 4-6mths, he's a videographer, not much use for him over there. We're stationed at Vandenberg AFB in central CA. Pretty far from our families who are on the east coast, so I stress about missing them (I've always been SO CLOSE to all of my family), which makes me eat. I will BLOW UP if he is deployed!! Anyway, rambled on a bit, just wanted to introduce myself, hope everyone is doing great with their programs!!

Hi Scotwolfrider! How is your brother doing in Iraq? My brother in law (Army) had two tours there, and...thankfully he made it home. From what he shared, prayers are definitely needed, so we'll be praying for your brother as well.
I'm from Panama City, FL (right now...thanks to being stationed here and we're about ready to get orders and move again).
First time doing sparks, but have been for a few months now and I really like it. It's got the kind of things that I need to make me feel like I am doing something--the online tracking of the excercises and the water tracking are my two favorite things at this site. And, it's been really nice to check the boards and find other military spouses, friends, families out there. :)

I am also a military wife, my husband is in the Coast Guard, we have a 10 month old boy. He is gone for 8 weeks, home for 6 weeks. So our schedule is changing All the time! I find it's usually easier for me to lose weight while he's gone because then I try to only keep healthy food in the house... that way I don't eat a lot either. LOL I'm aslo a military sister, my brother joined the Air Force 7 months ago. Thanks for all those who are praying for the military members, also remember to pray for their familes too! It's definitly not easy trying to make those ever changing schedules go over smoothly. I am thankful to say, DH will be getting out in 2 months since he will be able to spend more time at home, though there is some pride there when I say my husband is helping to serve our Country!:) I will continue praying for those who are still in. Thank you ladies for supporting your military man! ;)

Hi, My bro is in Afganistan right now. He's been there for a month and won't be back till the first part of August. His wife is due in three weeks with his second child so it's been a bit rough for both of them. Kinda scary that he has to be guarded 24 hours a day and carries a gun. Please pray for them. I will keep each one of you in my prayers as your family is in the military whether they go overseas or not. Fighting here in the USA is just as important. My dad was in the military for 24 years as my grandpa was in 31 years so I know what it's like to see him go and to be part of military family. Jennifer

Hi everyone! I'm a military wife as well, my husband is in the Coast Guard. We are currently stationed in Mississippi. I am lucky, he only goes out for a couple months at a time with the boat he is on now. Still hard when he's gone though. We have a girl-4 and a boy-2, and I stay at home with them. I've lost 15 lbs since I joined SP a few months ago, and I am hoping to lose another 15.
Thank you to all your husbands/brothers/anyone who is serving our country!

Torrey I'm an Army wife. I just got my hubby home a few months ago from a year long hardship tour to South Korea. I understand stress eating. Hershy and I became best friends while I was alone. I have 4 kids, 11, 6, 5 and 2. I homeschool. This is our first and maybe our last year..still undecided. I'm also trying to get into Nursing school. I am a Respiratory Therapist right now, but it is hard to find jobs when we move. What are you studying? Where is your hubby going to be deployed? It is so hard to say goodby. I can't even think about that pain. Mabye it wouldn't be so bad if we had a guarantee that they were coming home.
Hope you are well, Darcy

| North Carolina is absolutely beautiful. We were right in the middle of the desert in California, so being so close to the ocean is amazing. The people here are so friendly too. Are you all up for a move again soon then?

| Marine Corps wife here..Momma of four, and here's just my thoughts..Shouldn't we somehow cosmically get like a magic 20 pound weight loss when our husbands are on deployment??? Don't we earn that? He he he..It's not easy being a military wife for sure, but there's a whole lot of pride that comes with saying our husbands do what they do. We're currently in North Carolina, but just got here from california.

Hi, I'm a military wife, homeschooling mom of 4 (ages 4-14), Air Force husband, though he was a Navy kid (Dad was in the Navy). I can definitely relate to the challenge of trying to focus on self while managing an ever changing routine. I used to think it was great if the calendar had everyone's schedules on it so I could keep up with them, but...with my husband's schedule and life, gee...that kind of calendar gets really hard to keep updated and readable!
And, guess what...falling off the wagon...it happens, but...just don't let yourself stay off too long and don't let it make you give up. :) Best wishes!

Hello ladies, I am not a military wife, but a military sister. My older brother leaves for Iraq in a couple of weeks. Thank you both for taking such care of your families while your husbands have served our country. I can't really express how I feel about my brother going again. He was there in Desert Storm. I am definately proud of him. Last time he wasn't married and a father. Now everything has changed. I try and support my sister-in-law, but we aren't that close. I will continue to call her and see how she is, but sometimes it is so akward. Thanks for letting me share. Michelle
