Thanks everyone. WE had a great time. She even gave my dad hugs and kisses at the airport! (nice timing.)

I know how that goes. My son is 3 now and still reacts that way sometimes when we're away from home. It's strange for them though and you provide comfort and security! I know it's hard but I'm starting to understand that changes they go through when we take any kind of trip. They are just starting to get comfortable at Grandma's house so that makes me very happy. We're able to leave them with her whenever we need a babysitter now!

Thank you all very much. She has had a little challenge with her naps. She doesn't know my family as well and is fairly clingy normally. That is a little tiring because I don't get to leave a room without her flipping out. She also misses her daddy.

I'm glad that it went well! I know, they can be so cute! My daughter is just the little entertainer when she's around people who had not much else to do! When we visit my mom, she stands in the middle of the livingroom and smiles at everyone with her little wrinkly nose! She also greets everyone who comes in to the livingroom with a hug and sits on their lap for a little while. She's so cute that way; very cuddly!

She did great except she wouldn't sleep. She won over the crowds even in a three hour delay. I was very happy and tired.

We leave this afternoon. I am so excited. I haven't seen my family since Thanksgiving. They will be surprised with how much less there is of me. Have a great day.

I think it's easier to fly when they're younger as well. I flew with my son when he was 5-months-old and he was great. Our flights were always very short though (only a couple hours) so it was pretty easy.

I wouldn't worry too much about germs but do take with you some wet wipes for washing hands every half hour or so, you know, she's going to want to touch everything! My daughter certainly does and she'll be 18 months in a couple of weeks.

I hope your trip goes well and you have a wonderful visit!

no advice, just wanted to say good luck to you and let us know how it goes! I am flying 10 hours to Hawaii in June with my son who will be 10 months old. Am so nervous, but thankfully my husband is traveling with us. We went to CO for Christmas when he was 4 months old and he did fine, but I think the younger they are the easier it is to fly with them!

Take you pushchair with you and check it when you get on the plane. Most airlines will let you do this.

If they're on the ball, they'll be able to get it out for you and have it waiting at the plane when you exit the plane.

We did this with our pushchair when we travelled and it certainly made things easier. We also had reins/child harness to keep him in tow.

Thank you everyone. Any advice for changing planes? We have to stop in Minneapolis. Hopefully the gates are close. I have a child harness so she can walk around a little. I am kind of concerned about all the germs. Normally I am not a germ a phobe, but I want her to stay healthy. You are all wonderful. Thanks, now hopefully I can continue on my downward spiral with my weight and keep my exercise going while I am gone.

I was still breastfeeding my then 17 month old when we flew from London to Denver 2 years ago. He sat on my lap and breastfed during take off and landing - was relatively easy with the dual belt you wear. Only difficulty was in that I was 5 months pregnant and looked 8 months and he wanted to be on my lap the entire flight going out. Coming home was much easier because he fell asleep about 2 hours after take off and slept until we had to take him back on my lap to land.

I'll second bringing along treats and toys. We had a bag filled with various snacks and toys, pencils and crayons, paper for drawing on. Take things out a bit at a time, and replace them when they get bored.

Hello!

Traveling with a toddler or infant is difficult but can be very rewarding. Just remember to bring along a bottle or sippy cup. Give to them right as the plane is taking off and when the plane is landing. This will help with their ears and keep them from hurting as much, which can lead to crying.

Also, don't forget your favorite blankie or stuffy. Crayola makes the wonder free marker. Only showing on the special paper. It helped to keep my son busy.

I hope this helps!

My husband works as a mechanic for an airline so all three of my kids are experienced travelers. Crayons and small toys are a must (the airsick bags make great puppets) Bring a lot of snacks, extra clothes, pain reliever, and something for her to suck on during take-off and landing to help with the pressure in her ears. My youngest has very sensitive skin, so I also bring lotion and chapstick because the air in the plane can really dry skin out. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the insight! I am not sure I could do it while pregnant too. Way to go! I tell my daughter we are going to visit her grandparents, but I don't think she understands the whole flying thing. We've visited twice since having her, but we drove both times. Twenty hours is too long without a relief driver.

I travelled with my son when he was only 18 months old but I saw also pregnant with my second child. The flight was at night but he was so excited about the plane that he didn't even sleep. He was great though. I brought him some little toys and the person next to me didn't mind him at all. He was a little restless but I tried to hold onto him. The guy sitting next to me offered to hold him for a little while and my stomach was killing me from the baby I was carrying so I let him hold him for a few minutes to reposition myself. My son was great though. I hope your flight isn't too long and that you remember to pack some things to keep yours entertained! My flight was only 2 hours and I was exhausted!

Has anyone flown with their infant/toddler children? I am taking my 17 month old on a trip next week and would like suggestions. Our flight out is during her bedtime, but on the way home it is during the day. We have one layover each way, and I bought a child harness so she can walk around a little. She is an excellant baby, but I wil be by myself. Please let me know your thoughts.
