My teenage daughter is allergic to berries. She has just learned to check what is in stuff ( baked goods, ice cream, other desserts, breads, etc.)

I'm fortunate that my 2 only have nasal allergies. The older one was tested, and it's dust mites !
We're wearing out sheets, blankets, etc. but I'm thankful that it's not pollen. He takes Zyrtec and night and Rynatan in the morning. The younger one was fine until he went from a home day care to preschool, and now he has to take Claritin or he coughs. If anyone is on the Advair inhaler, the govt just put a black box warning on it. I found the info on MSN Health.

My son has severe allergies to pollen, grass and dust. Try to keep a boy out of the grass, yeah right. He is and has been on zyrtec for about 3-4 years now sometimes even have to supplement it with Benadryl. He also has asthma. His daily meds are zyrtec, pulmicor(inhalor), nasonex(nose spray), zatydor(eye drops)this is just for allergy stuff, he is now also on the allergy shot regimen. was going weekly, twice a week, now he is on maintenance every 2 weeks, hopefully we will see a difference this spring and summer. He usually has to go twice a summer for a steroid shot also because it gets so bad. Twice he has gotten pollen caught in his eye, man what a nightmare, instantly swells shut and have to go to ER to get it cleaned out and a steroid shot. Not fun.

He takes these 4 for his allergies, then he has 2 meds for his ADHD, one for his tummy issues and one for helping him sleep. He is a walking pharmacy.

My children have numerous allergies...Including, Nuts, MSG, most fruits, dust, animal and environmental allergies. They also have epi-pens and puffers for the asthma...Not fun at all but we have been living this way since they are born. It's just another way of living...

My son is only 2 and seems he has allergies. Constant runny nose, and the second he goes outside, his eyes water. other times he gets yellow "Crud" that comes out of his eyes, but it's not pink eye, and not contageous.
Last year we did Bynadryl morning and night. Dr said it would nock him out. NOT this kid. I really didn't see a difference. I do now that we tried the Grape flavored one and seems every time he takes that, he is up at 2AM ready to play for 3 hours. So we are back to Dye FREE benadryl. We may switch to a prescription if needed.

My first son has many pollen allergies. We use benedryl for them. My second has none that we know of at this time. My third son has a severe allergy to pears. He is not in school yet, but whenever we go anywhere I have to make sure to bring him his own fruit snacks etc. When he starts going to daycare for half days this year I am going to request that a note be put in each room he is in to inform everyone that he has the allergy.

I myself have severe pollen allergies, asthma, several food allergies and am allergic to most antibiotics... so at least I am prepared for my boys if anything happens.

I NEVER leave the house without liquid benedryl. It works for a multitude of allergies and is quick in relieving the problem

My oldest is allergic to something that gets kicked up when it gets pretty windy. Benadryl (sp) is how we handle it.

My 7 year old has numerous allergies, plus asthma and exzema (a skin rash caused mostly by her allergies) Her worst allergy is to Peanut Butter and peanut products. Her school keeps notices about this in the front office, the nurses office, her classroom, and the lunch room. Katie herself is very smart about handling it. If she's not sure about something, she'll always ask an adult to make sure it's safe for her to eat first. We also let the parent's of her friends know.

For her other allergies- we took all the carpet out of our house and replaced it with tile and wood, she takes daily meds, and gets allergy shots weekly. We also bought an ionic breze and keep the house as clean and dust free as possible.

I know this sounds like a lot of hassle, but it's been going on so long, it's very normal for us. I don't baby my daughter or treat her like she's fragile in any way. I just do my best to keep her healthy.

My 6 Year old son has a allergy to both Pineapple and hair gel. I was wondering if any one else has a child with allergy's and how do you handel it when he or she is in school. I have to make sure I pack a extra fruit when Pineapple is for lunch on school. I just learned today that he is allergic to hair gel when he decided to spike his hair. If there is any one else out there please let me know I am not the only one.
LOL, Crystal
