If the family aren't willing to lay off the junk food.. thats their decision.... You just have to control yourself... remember what made you want to lose weight in the first place and find suitable healthy foods.

All of my friends still pig out on junk food and I'm still losing weight... you just have take on the responsibility of making your own decisions. Don't let other people's unhealthy eating habbits have an impact on yours!

/end rant.

Since I gave up the Fruit & nuts mix, I also do a lot of fresh fruit. I try to eat at least one apple and one banana a day (love those Fuji's and Pink Lady's mmmmmm!!). I also buy the fresh fruit bowls from Albertsons. They usually contain mixed melons, or I will buy a bowl of pineapple or watermelon. These are 8 oz bowls and are relatively healthy snacking. I also drink a lot of water, generally at least 10-12 8oz servings a day. I have a 33 oz sport-top bottle in my truck and a gallon jug in my ice chest to refill with

I spend a lot of time behind a windshield also and get bored so I want to snack. I used to snack on trail mix also, would buy those big bags from Sam's Club and mindlessly snack while driving down the road. Usually a serving is a 1/4 cup so I would normally eat 8 or more servings a day! No wonder I wasn't losing any weight! I keep bananas and oranges in my vehicle now. Somedays I'll pack some cantaloupe and yogurt (hmmmmm). For salty I like baked Lay's but have to be careful cuz I can eat the whole bag before I know it. Plus, I drink at least 2 liters of water a day. Love the stuff!
Someone in an earlier post mentioned jokingly about putting a mirror on their fridge. That's not a bad idea, lol. I did put a picture of me when I was a fat and happy 240 pounder on the fridge door. That's very good motivation, seeing those fat cheeks on my face and my belly covering my belt, to keep me from grabbing something fattening!

Boy can I relate to having a hard time avoiding the obvious bad choices. My job involves driving about 350 miles a day around Southern California. I am in my truck driving about 80% of my day. My hands want something to do and so my habit has been to have something on the seat to snack on. I knew better than to have chips, cookies or candy - so I got hooked on Kirkland Fruit and Nut mix from Costco. About 10 lbs later, I figgered out that probably wasn't working out.

I would get rid of the junk food anyways and help the family out as well...teach them health too and you can have more support...just my .02cents

I haven't figured out how to post a link, but try copying this into your address window. It covers exactly what you're talking about.

Have you heard of the Don Key diet? Basically it involves keeping your ass out of the refrigerator. Don Key...Donkey...Get it. Seriously, the salty/sour snacks are my personal killers. I don't have a major problem not eating sweets but the chips and nuts are a trial. Keep focused! Eye on the prize and all that. Drastic as it sounds, my wife and I have talked about mounting a full length mirror on our fridge door. Talk about taking away your appetite!

Arrrgggh for the weekends. I weighed last Thursday (normal weigh in on Monday) and had lost two pounds in three days. I come back from the weekend and have only lost 1 pound for the week. I suspected it and now I have confirmed it. The weekends are killing me! I am doing this program with a few people at work so during the week we are all talking about what we are eating and everything is a lot easier. On the weekend though, I have junk food everywhere (apparently not an option to remove it so says the other family members) and its soooo tempting to grab chips, cookies, doughnuts, ice cream, etc, etc etc...

So should I put on one of those dog collars that zaps the hell out of ya when you get too close to the pantry or fridge?

Seriously though. This stinks. Just really venting my frustration more than anything.
