Excuse me for being down on everyone but the ChiSox have let me down. The Dodgers and Angels have dropped the ball also. It's driving me to eat (oh no!).

You saying I'm a fair weather fan? I bet I have Yankee hats older than you!

I've been rooting for the Yankees since the Dodgers left Brooklyn. I hated the Yankees and when I heard the Dodgers were gonna' leave, I swore I'd root for the Yankees if they abandoned me. They did and I have ever since. I've also been a Phils fan since around 1968, so I haven't been a fair weather fan ever. Both teams have seen plenty of bad years since I've been a fan, especially the Phillies. That's why it's so exciting to see them get this close to the wild card slot this year. It would really be great to see them beat out the Dodgers (quitters).

that maybe tru however it is more fun to be a tru fan than a fair weather fan dont you think for that is what i would be if i ever sided with the yankees (id rather see the white sox or dodgers win)

Hey Mike was that a plug for the BOSOX? I knew you would come along. But you are right there are some incredible races to pay attention to great year to be a baseball fan especially BOSOX

Hey fair weather fans. Are you guys giving up already. To heck with the Yankees. Just because Boston is out of it, there is still a race in the AL. There are 5 teams shooting for 4 spots. Unfortunately the White Sox are #5, but they will come through. The is a lot of teams for the NL. It should be a great 2 1/2 weeks. Look at Kansas City, they're beating everyone.

Talk about disappointing. The White Sox starters are finally pitching well and the relievers are screwing up. Too many late inning loses. It's still going to be an interesting last 3 weeks of the season. There are so many teams in contention.

Hey, the Giants are making things interesting in the WC race; they're 1 1/2 games behind the Padres. Can the sweep the Them tonight?

Well, right now, it's looking doubtful. Matt Morris is having another one of his typically uninspired games. Giants are already down 4-0 in the bottom of the third. The Padres' pitcher, Woody Williams, already has two hits.

Now it's 5-0.

Well, I hate to be a nay-sayer, but this is just like the Giants: as soon as they have your interest, they disappoint. I know, I know, it ain't over till it's over . . . At least Bonds is swinging again.

I wouldn't call me nervous. Ecstatic maybe. Overjoyed. Happy as a clam? But not nervous. Let's see, will that be nine consecutive AL East flags?

Did you see that no hitter today?

Wish I had, it was only a matter of time. After hearing about Santana's two hitter the other day(grin). I am actually beginning to believe that the Twins might be a wild card team this year. But we will wait and see.

Hey, is everybody too nervous to check in? The ChiSox finally beat Boston to close in on the Twins and Tigers. The NL is really heating up. Almost anyone can win (except the Cubs.) Did you see that no hitter today? ESPN was showing the final two inningw during the White Sox game. It was really exciting.

It's really an exciting season, isn't it? There are so many teams in contention for the pennent abd wild card. Amongst our members only Kansas City is out of it. My ChiSox are playing catch up again, but should be able to pull through. My Dodgers are in front and my Angels are near the front. I have a lot to cheer and cry about.

Hey Blues guy,

I've been touting the Phillies all year, but nobody wants to hear it. What other team is around fifteen games out of first in their division, but only one game back in the wild card race. Could be wild card history in the making? Ya gotta' love it! Go Phils!

Well, I've noticed that, as per usual, all of the talk is about American League teams, which is not surprising, given the doddering NL.

So, I shall do my part and say that the Giants have been playing well again, but, alas, I think it's another one of their teases for this season. They may be one of the best .500 teams of the year, though!

alright guys, i dont have much input, but a couple of years ago, my kids needed beds and i didnt have that much money so i looked in the paper for good second hand ones, and i found 2 which is what i wanted, guess what, it was from the Expos manager, he buys furniture for when the expos are in town, he furnishes an appartment and he was emptying it selling all the hardly used stuff, so i bought the bed, kids are not that impressed about sleeping in beds that the expos slept in but i think its cool, just thought id share it. have a fast ball kind of day.

My only displeasure in baseball teams, being a loyal ChiSox fan for 6 decades are the Cubs, which don't count and the Yankees who beat us so many time in the 50's and 60's.

Oh man JESBRESINA, it's not like we posted a bouncer on the thread. I've never seen people turned away from posting on this thread. Asking makes us look territorial.

As far as Steinbrenner losing money and joining the rest of us: Before that happens, pink slips will be dealt out in the Yankee front office like playing cards.

Jes,

I'm married to one of the world's most avid baseball fans. I used to be a fair weather fan. I'd root for the Phil's or the Yankees if they were in contention toward the end of the year, but that was about it. There were years that I didn't watch a game. Since I met my little Yankee/Phillie fan over ten years ago, I don't think I've gone a week without a game during the season, let alone a whole season. She has a huge card collection and sits during the games and keeps the box scores, pitch by pitch. If I ever want to know who did this or that, I ask her before I Google and usually don't have to do the search, because she knew the answer. So no, I don't have any problem with female fans. I'd be lost without mine. I am opposed to Red Sox fans, whatever their sex.

PS
Her sisters live in Connecticut and are big Dead Sox fans. Needless to say, both of us have had quite a bit of fun at the expense of a couple female fans from the north in the last few days. They don't want to talk about baseball all of a sudden? We just don't understand. Was it something we said? We'll add you to the loser list.

Mike,

Each thread is supposed to be about a certain topic, but they do have a way of wandering and straying. However, all you have to do is go to the top of whatever thread you're in and click on the words underlined and in red, in this case, "The Guys' Lounge" and it will take you to the root forum. Once you're there, all you have to do is click on "Create A New Topic" and you'll start a whole new thread which you get to title. When you're ready, just start one titled "football" or whatever it is you want to talk about and you'll have a whole new thread dedicated to whatever it is. In fact, there's one now about "proper football" (soccer). Check it out and tell them what real football is all about!

Even though this is a guy's lounge, I have no problem with a female fan. Any baseball is fine with me. I do, however, think that we should wait until after baseball season to start talking about other sports. I'm sure this site was for baseball only. Correct me Niteman and Dennis is I am wrong. Meanwhile the ChiSox finally beat Detroit and the Red Sox finslly beat anyone. It is going to be a great race this season.

so i guess i should ask now if me coming in a talking baseball and hockey( i am a huge hockey fan)is intrusive? ah but it is really hard to talk sports with most women they just complain about their husbands watching or being involved in it tooo much thanks guys for being soooo cool

any way what is up with the Yankees losing money ---anyone hear this? i saw it on ESPN but couldnt stick around to hear the rest. Does this mean Stienbrenner might have to enter the real world?
