Hi Becky, I copied and pasted my response to your suggestions. I had it in the Panic room but another Sparker suggested that you may not find it there. If another coach sees this, please pass it along to Becky!
If you are wanting to read up on ALL of the responses in the thread, look up "For BECKY HAND...I use a wheelchair!" Thanks for taking the time to help me out Becky...I really appreciate it!
ORIGINAL RESPONSE:
Dear Becky,
Thanks for your response!
It's wonderful to have such support from the Coaches on SP. I really appreciate how helpful everyone has been. I am also reassured that you have worked with others in similar situations.
As you and Coach Dean have suggested, I have now lowered my calorie range to 1200 - 1550. I said that I did not exercise - even though I do. Like you said (and you do understand correctly), the cycling machine I am using, does automatically pedal and I just pedal along with it. It does the movement for me. You're right, there is still some movement and a little bit of a workout with the use of the bike, but like I said, I never break a sweat and am NEVER out of breathe.
I am definately willing to spend a few months to find out the appropriate calorie range. 1/2 to 1 pound loss is fine with me. I am already getting a lot of lean sources of protein in my diet and I am using the food tracker every day - with my own food!!! I follow the food guide and am always within my levels for carbs, fats, protein. Should I be in the lower range of my carbs or in the middle? What do you think?
You had suggested I start with 1500 calories. Before when I was in the 1350 to 1740 range, I was always eating around 1400 - 1500 calories. It was at this time that I actually gained the 4 pounds in one week. Do you think that rather than start at 1500, I could start at 1300 and do the same thing you suggested? Stay in the 1300 range for a month and than if no loss, maybe decrease slightly, if too much of a loss, increase by 100? Would this work the same as starting at 1500?
What do you think? You're the expert, but I'm thinking with the fact that I am not walking at all -not losing even the standard amount of calories from day to day activities - I think 1500 may be too high...if you say try it though, you know what's best, so I am definately willing to try whatever you think may work.
Thanks again Becky. I really appreciate you taking the time to help me figure this out. You're great!
