| Why not buy yourself some weights? I bought two, 5 lb weights from Walmart last night for 5 bucks each! There are also ankle and wrist weights if you are a walker. Very cool!

you can always manually add exercises to the strength training list. this is one thing i like about the spark program. it lets you tailor things to you. you can start out with pilates, bands, and body weight exercises and then work your way up to machine exercises if you aren't too fond of strength training. it makes it a much easier transition.

| Jen, what if I work out in the gym and use the different machines for strength training. Is there any way to add those exercises as my strength training?

| I HATE lifting weights and wish I could get into it. How about some pushups and situps...those build muschle.

I'm having trouble getting started on strength training, too. I go to the gym and they have machines there, but I always just do the stationery bike. I keep thinking I should do the three little pictures at home, but ---!!!**** wait! I have an idea! Those exercises need their own time slot, like the gym and the swimming pool. I'll do them in the morning three days a week. I need a mat, but I can get one, and I think I'll get a medicine ball too. I have the bands.

Jana,
If you put that you were going to do strength training in your program set up, your fitness plan will give you a set of exercises to start with, along with demonstrations of how to do them. That would be a great start.

| You can use canned vegetables. The bands are pretty cheap. I got some at dunam's. It was about 6 bucks.

Any ideas on some simple strength training ideas to start out with? I don't have weights or one of those elastic things. Would yoga count as strength training?
