I managed to get my 30 min cardio in this evening, some ab work and 10 modified push-ups.
I had to return some clothes we got as Christmas gifts (yes, I procrastinated) today and exchanged them for 2 shirts and 2 pants. I look great in the pants, but I don't plan on wearing the shirts until I'm a lot closer to my goal. One's a halter that ties around the neck and the other's a low necked lacy tank top.
...I got it! I'll find some medieval corset/torture device to wrap around my stomach that'll push the excess fat up into my cleavage where I really need it. Problems solved!!
Oh well, guess I'll just stick with working out and eating better.
How'd everyone else do?

My sympathies, really! With my first child, I was sick 24/7 for the first trimester. I threw up so much I became dehydrated and lost 14 lbs. My doc prescribed anti-nausea pills with that one. With my second, I never actually threw up, but felt nauseous a lot of the time (again, during the first 3 months).
Nothing really helped me...I tried the seasick wrist bands and don't think they did much. I can tell you that I was Dorito-phobic due to the lack of them wanting to stay down in my tummy and I couldn't eat apples those 3 months. I loved them, but apparantely my daughter didn't!
Sorry I can't offer you quick-fix solutions to your sickness, but I will be praying for you and your baby.

Ok, girlfriends, I need help. I am miserable and getting worse by the day. All day long I get dizzy and nauseous if I so much as stand up or bend over, and I have so little energy I am even skipping my abs tape tonight. I napped most of the afternoon and I can still barely keep my eyes open.
What helped you when you were miserable in early pregnancy? If you felt like a million bucks the whole way through, don't rub it in! Of course I am happy for you, I just don't want to hear about it!
I was pretty much sick the entire first 4 months last time, but most of that was over summer vacation so I was able to manage. Now I can't just lie still all day moaning and I have GOT to function. Help!

Oh my goodness. I joined a gym on my lunch break. It's an 11 minute brisk walk from my office. I used the walk to and from as warm up and cool down, so I just had to stretch! I'm pretty psyched. It's me time. I grabbed a wrap from Subway on my back to the office. Yum! I'm seriously jazzed.
Okay, speaking of dancing, anyone heard of the exotic dance classes? The website can be found at artofexoticdancing.com. I took out the www. so it wouldn't get flagged. I've replaced one of my rewards with this class. I've wanted to take them for a while and this is the perfect reason. I'm gonna lose the weight and tone up and this will help with self-confidence!

No way...dancing?? What kind? (club, country, variety, etc) I used to take dance lessons (ballroom, Latin, country, etc) and miss it terribly. At one time I even wanted to be an dance instructor, but...well, let's just say things got complicated. Anyway, I'm very envious of your night out, but hope you have the greatest time!
How'd your son's appt. turn out? ---------- Kim - how are your two doing? My oldest is 98% over her cold, but my little boy has it pretty good. By the way, how's the exercise going? ---------- While laying in bed last night, I couldn't help thinking about exercising (before you roll your eyes, let me say that my mind wanders like crazy for the first hour or so of my lying down and 100 things come to mind) and I was trying to think of another challenge for our board.
Why don't we all think of some aspect to bring to a challenge for next week (Starting Monday-Thursday, weigh-in day) and we'll call it 'Spark Extreme'! I think it should involve various aspects of getting healthy, including exercise, nutrition, and mental health. Let's throw some ideas around and see what we come up with!
I'm going to try 30 minutes of cardio today. DH said it takes 30-45 minutes of increased heartrate to really get good fat burning, so I'm shooting for 30. (If you don't hear back from me today, you can send flowers to ...)
Get up, keep it up, and get it outta your mouth! Kelly

I feel like a million bucks. I just got done with yoga and I am refreshed and calm. That is the best feeling.
Glad to see that everyone is doing great. Tomorrow night Rick and I are going out without the children. BIG SHOCK to my system. We are going dancing. So, I am not working out tomorrow during the day, I think I will get a workout dancing.
Check in tomorrow, Kelly

Congrats to Shelia, that is soooo exciting. I hope you have a great pregnancy.
I weighed in today and all was well I maintained, which is my goal. Ya!!! I got in my cardio and my lifting today and I am teaching yoga tonight. I slacked on my walking lunges because Tuesday I went up on weights and my bum has been a bit sore. That is good though.
Glad to hear that you maintained Kelly that is GREAT. Also a big WOOO HOOOO to all the rest of you on the weight loss and keeping on track with exercise. This is really a motivational group.
Tomorrow is my sons ear appointment. I hope they can fix him. Maybe then he will not be in pain and be happy.

I keep forgetting it is Thursday and no I didn't weigh this morning, but only cause I forgot. I am going to wait until Sunday though. 1) Yes cause of the trip and 2) cause I'm menstrating as of this morning and know I haven't started to lose the water weight yet.
Phew! I feel like I've been away from Spark forever. It's amazing how quickly it becomes a necessity.

Alright! Congratulations!
As far as the 10 more lbs goes, look at it this way...at least you're going into this pregnancy healthy. Will this be your second?
Keep us posted on what the doc says...how exciting! Kelly

Oh my,
I have been feeling crummy as heck and I bought a Home pregnancy Test and it says positive! I have an appointment on Monday to see the doctor and see if this really is true. I had really wanted to lose another 10 lbs before getting pregnant again, but I've also been trying to get pregnant for a long time and it would be wonderful to have succeeded!
OMG I just do not know WHAT to think!

| Here's my weigh in - 145.4, down 2.6 from last week - which had been up from the week before. But still that is a wonderful movement in the correct direction! Sticking on the low end of the food plan and getting lots of exercise definitely works!

Hey Kim!! Hope your kids are feeling better! As far as steps, I'm really interested in getting The Firm's 2 step combo. I think it's like $60 but it comes with several videos and I'm not sure what else. I originally thought that since I got the Elliptical, that it would be my means of daily cardio...BUT, I realize that I need to add other activities to that and stepping is definitely one! I heard it helps to shape your rear, which would be a great thing!
Ok, I grudgingly weighed myself this morning, assuming the scale would go up due to my sickness and lack of exercise. To my surprise, I went from 133.6 last week to 133.4 this week. I'm so shocked I didn't gain...I've even splurged on some junk food. I haven't done my measurements yet - I can tell just by looking that stomach measurements didn't go down!
On a different note - does anyone here have any experience with hormone imbalances (yourself for someone you know)?
Hope you all have a great day...anyone else game to weigh-in and post it?
Kelly

Hi Kim,
Have you tried Ebay? I bought a Firm Fanny Lifter there. It is a two part step that you can use either the little one or the big one or if you are nuts and hate your knees both at the same time. Or maybe if you are tall you could do it, but for me it would be a BAD IDEA so I just use one or the other separately. FWIW Sunshine Boy thinks it is the greatest toddler table ever invented. He uses it while I'm not and it was a great investment!

Gosh, I haven't check in for a while....Both of my kids have been sick, so.....needless to say my husband and I both have slacked off on exercising. Hopefully, we will get back at it starting tomorrow! The rest of you are great at pushing it to get your workouts in--Hooray for you!!
Hope everyone else's kids are feeling better. Sounds like all of them had something.
Does anyone have a suggestion on where to get a "cheap" step? I looked on web at Amazon and Target but they still run about $80.
Have a great day ladies!

I am loopy as heck today, but I got in a full hour of vigorously shoving a shopping cart around as I kept forgetting things and having to go back and forth through the entire supermarket umpteen times. I counted it as a slow walk because that is pretty much all I did, walk in circles! LOL I bet the stock clerks were laughing their heads off - here she comes AGAIN she must be senile!
I got in a little bit of walking outside, and some house cleaning, have not lifted weights yet but plan to before I go to bed. And of course my daily date with Mr Happy Face on the 8 min abs tape. Last night DH did it with me and he kept grumbling because Mr Happy Face was so chipper through the whole tape and because I could do all the exercises and he couldn't. I told him if he will just do it with me every night he'll have his own set of washboard abs in no time! Ha Ha we will see if he joins me tonight!
Best, Sheila

Wow, you lifted your house...you ARE fit!
I'm not too thrilled with weigh-in day tomorrow. Since I've been sedentary for about 5 days, I'm afraid the scale will go up - not to mention my measurements! Count me in, as usual!
The head cold is still lingering, but I'm able to exercise with no problems. I did 20 (yes 20, not the usual 15) minutes of cardio today as well as ab work! Yee haw!
Hope everyone is feeling great and the kiddos are getting well again. I didn't have to get up once last night...I let my dh get up the one time my daughter started to whine. It's an equal parent opportunity, you know.
How did everyone else's day go. Get in any exercise?
ttfn! Kelly

Today I lifted and cleaned my house, heavy cleaning. I feel that I got in a work there. Hope everyone else is doing well on their workouts.
Kelly, Tomorrow is day. I am kind of pumped about it. I did really well this week on eating and working out. How are you feeling, better?
Shelia, Great job on the restaurant diet. Sounds like you guys had a lot of fun with your mom. Thats great. Glad to hear you are doing so well on you diet.
Talk to you all later. Weigh in tomorrow for anyone who would like to join.
Later, KElly

Oh yeah, I forgot to report - Mom seemed to enjoy Sunshine Boy so much she forgot to complain about my messy house and I even talked her into going to the gym with me on Saturday!
I was able to get in exercise every day and she let me do it, didn't seem to mind my not playing the role of host and taking time off for exercise.
And when we went out to eat she even joined me in ordering egg beaters in the omelettes and sugar free syrup. I managed to do restaurants and stay on the low end of the points - I've learned a lot here and I love being able to select foods and count calories before I even leave the house.
Best, Sheila

Alright Sheila!
Hope your son feels better soon. I'm breaking out the vaporizer tonight, though I need to buy another one in order to have one for each kid. This is the first time they've been sick at the same time.

Wow, that is great that you exercised even though you didn't feel like it!
I just went out for a walk and I didn't feel like it either. And I'll do my abs tape later when DH gets home so I can rope him into doing it too!
Sunshine Boy has a cold too but so far he is able to sleep. Thank heavens for the humidifier!

Awesome workout Kelly!
I wanted to report that I got my 15 min cardio and 10 min abs in today. I didn't want to do it, but I figured I'd better get back on the wagon and get into the routine again before I got too lazy to start at all! My head was pounding a bit after the Elliptical, but it really felt good to work my abs (did I say that?)
I just ate one of the powerbars I have...it was a Luna Chocolate Pecan Pie. Blaaahhhh! The first bite tasted like powdered vitamins. I couldn't taste the pecans at all. The chocolate part was ok and after 2 or 3 bites, I guess you could get used to the taste. Hopefully, I'll have better luck with the others!
Magazine tip(s) of the day: How to break a bad habit 1. Break it into little pieces - for instance, if you want to stop eating unhealthy food, start by eating one apple every day. You'll eventually replace your bad habit with good ones. 2. Celebrate small victories - Instead of focusing on your results on any one day, keep a log of all the good things you've done for yourself. Read it each day and celebrate all you've done! 3. Hang out with the right people - People tend to copy the habits of people around them, so surround yourself with people who are doing the things you want to do. 4. Inspire yourself - Do something daily that inspires or educates you in the direction of your goal. Call a supportive friend or listen to a song that motivates you. Every time you do, you'll be a step closer to leaving that old habit behind.
Hope this was of help to someone! Ok everyone, if sick little ol' me could get some exercise in today, I hope you can motivate to do something to get your heartrate up today (sadly, this does not include arguing with the hubby or the kids - that might kill ya, not make you healthier)
ttfn! Kelly

Hello Everyone,
I got in a 25 min jog and a 5 min walk and weight lifting this morning while my daughter was at school. I feel great. I also have swimming with the kids tonight and then off to teach yoga. I would have to say by the end of tonight I should be caught up on my burned calories for the whole week.
I also did not sleep last night, my son was up, I think that his ears hurt. He goes into the ENT on Friday. I hope they can fix him. Sounds like everyone else has been dealing with sick kids as well, must be that time of the year.
I hope that everyone can get their spirits up. We might all be having a tough week with the kids, but don't let them win. That is what my parents say to me when the going gets tough.
Good Luck on the workouts today.
Later, Kelly (Be )

Well, my cold may be going away, but it's come back 2 strong. My baby boy was up every hour coughing (sounded like a baby seal...gotta check it out) and my little girl woke up around 2:30 unable to breath through her nose and it took an hour to get her back to sleep. I'm pretty sure I have luggage, not bags, under my eyes today!
I know my husband's just trying to be sweet, but...he bought a 12-pack of regular soda to stock the fridge with and brought me home a Snickers bar last night. I almost wonder if he's trying to sabatoge me in order to feel less guilty about his inability to stick with a weight loss program himself.
Still no exercise as of today...I almost feel like I'm depressed, but I'm sure it's just this cold hanging on as well as a backlog of hormones. I wish it was warm enough to go outside and soak up some sunshine...that's one reason I can't wait to move back to TX. I'm sure it's in the 60's or 70's right now in West Texas.
Ok, this post just sounds depressing...how's this...
Hey, how's everyone's day going so far? Hope you've gotten your workouts in and have resisted at least one unhealthy food temptation (resisting one is better than giving in to them all)! Best of luck!
Kelly

I think lack of sleep makes me more hungry. When Sunshine Boy has a bad night or DH snores too much and I'm really sleepy I just want to eat all day long.
The best thing I have found to combat it is keeping low calorie snacks around. Of course, getting enough sleep is the best cure, but some days I just can't help that!
Hang in there, Sheila

I'm kind of in the same boat, Kelly. I was up at 4:30am today, but not to exercise--my little one has croup! Ugh! I had to work all day and now I'm exhausted. I might try to get up tomorrow and get my workout in. Also, I've got to work on eating better. I've been failing in that area too! But thanks to all of you, you're keeping me motivated.

Hey girls, glad to see everyone's still so motivated! I, on the other hand, have not been doing so well. I haven't exercised in like 4 days because of this cold! Tomorrow, I'm going to try to get moving again, cause I'm sure the longer I go without exercising, the harder it'll be to start back up.
Hey Kim, noticed you hadn't posted in a while...everything ok?
I did buy a few 'powerbars' while I was out today. I'm going to try Luna, Pria, and Powerbar 'triple threat'. I think I read somewhere that you're supposed to eat some kind of protein and/or good carbs like 1/2 hour before working out to help you get through your workout, is that right?
Cross your fingers for me tomorrow as I get the exercises going again (I hope!!)
Kelly
