| I am actually lookinig for a more casual/relaxed dress as well, something fitting but comfortable. Have you been on the Knot.. I found some great ones on there.

| I think that the Nutrition Tracker is helping me also. I have dropped down5 lbs so far and counting. I find it hard to eat something that I do not want to write down.

After I saw pictures of me from my sister's wedding last year I knew I needed to lose weight before mine. We picked my ring out last summer and now it's too big, but I am waiting until after the wedding to get it re-sized because I want to see how it fits with the band.
Our wedding is in April and I haven't picked a dress yet.. I'm getting close enough to a weight I'm happy with that I'll start looking in a few more weeks. I'm hoping to find a dress that I can just wear off the rack so I don't need it altered, but since I am hoping for something more casual than a traditional dress I think I'll be ok.
Good luck all of you :)

| The wedding is in November. I haven't started an exercise program yet, but I have changed what I eat and when I eat it. The Nutrition Tracker on here is making me be accountable for what I eat and I think that is really helping!

| I wanted to lose weight before getting engaged, I just couldn't get myself motivated. Now I've been engaged since October and I've gained 20 pounds! I found this website through a Bridal magazine and I think I've finally found my motivation. Congrats to you for finding the strength you need to get healthy before getting engaged!

| Great using your dress, as a visual motivator I have a picture of mine printed out as well.

| You have such a positive attitude, i love it... and you are right i will be glad to have to get a smaller anything, be it a ring, a dress, a bra lol.

| Thanks for the congrats! And I agree that it will be a good motivator- I printed a picture of the dress and on the back wrote down foods I need to avoid, so I can't take out money to pay for that brownie without being reminded why I don't need it! ;D

| I am sort of in the same boat. We are definately getting married and the ring is already picked out and almost paid for. We have been together for 6 years ad have 2 beautiful children. After 2 kids and not watching my weight I am at my biggest and very unhappy. He on the other hand could careless if I am big. He says he loves me no matter what and never has said anything bad about my weight. I tho refuse to be this size for my weedding pictures and wedding. I am really determined to do it this time. And if I have to get my ring resized half a dozen times I will. I have done sparks before and it does work. I will get to my goal and so will you. Good luck!!

| I think its great that you are doing it together. I wish I had that luxury. My boyfriend is all of 148 on his heavy days. Hes's a little tiny thing... So, I am working hard just to get to a comfortable weight for me....

| After having (not-so-subtly) checked my ring size a few times, DF went with a 6.5 band... which sadly doesn't fit (the ring I normally wear is much narrower). While I am losing weight, we're going to wait a bit and see if it fits better after I shed a few more pounds... I'd hate to have to get a bigger ring this early on, but feel a little funny wearing my ring on my pinkie or midfinger. *sigh*

I'm in the same boat. I live with my boyfriend and we are trying to loose weight together. He wants to loose because of diabetes and I told him my goal is to look good in my wedding dress. Even though we are planning on getting married, he doesn't like me talking about it all of the time, luckily he was okay with my goal!

| That's a great story, it made me laugh. We want to have professional pictures done prior to our Engagement Party, so I would like to be well on way in the weight loss department..

Hey there!
Here's something nice; I met my fiance four years ago, when I was at my goal weight. I fluctuated up and down but mainly got back down to my goal weight by our anniversary of our first date, which we would celebrate together of course. Two years after that first date he proposed to me and my ring was a tad too big because I'd been losing weight, but again my weight fluctuated up and down and so sometimes it was too tight and I couldn't remove it and other times it would slide around. Two years later (that's this month!) we're getting married, and I just had to send my ring off for one last sizing because the band didn't fit precisely with the engagment part, and I want to be able to slide it on my finger properly on our actual wedding date. The engagement ring is a little big right now, but once they weld the other peice on it it will not slide. I've gotten back down to my goal weight, and I intend to stay there after this point. The ring will be able to slide on and off so that I can do things without risking damage to it and also for cleaning. All I have to do is stick at my goal weight!
I'll be thin for pictures, too.

I was at my all-time high when my fiance proposed! Now that I'm 15 pounds lighter, the ring that I had to have made bigger THEN is now TOO big! I need to have it resized again. It looks like we're getting married on the beach in June - so I have great incentive to keep up the hard work.
I think getting in shape is a great idea no matter when you're getting married (or engaged).
Good luck!

| Interested to see how many people know what I mean on tis one. My boyfriend and I are seriously planning on getting engaged. Of course, I don't have a ring yet, and the date is up in the air. Probably spring of 2008. In the meantime, I am working hard to lose weight for myself, and for my engagement and wedding pictures.. any one else in the same boat?
