Ordering the dress

I would give it more than 6 months if possible. I ordered my dress last October and it won't be here until April. It could easily take 6 months for the dress to come in and then you need time to have it altered. Since you have so much time I would start looking about 10 months out and then when you find the dress you love let them know your situation and ask how long you can wait before you order it.

It usually depends on the dress, but I've heard to try to give it about 6 months to be absolutely sure it gets there on time without having to rush it. Also I think that January is a really busy season with wedding dresses - a lot of people get engaged over Christmas and then want a summer wedding so they're all ordering their dresses around then. I got engaged last February and am getting married in June. I thought I'd be fine ordering my dress mid-January but I ended up having to pay extra to rush it! I would play it safe and order it in November or December of next year, if you end up losing more weight they can always take it in!

As a general rule of thumb, how late can I wait to order my dress and still be sure it arrives with plenty of time for alterations? I'm not getting married until May of 08 and want time to loose as much weight as possible between now and when i order my dress. I should hit my goal sometime around the New Year, can I wait until next Jan to order and still have it arrive in time? or should I be planning on ordering it much sooner? I'm already looking and have even tried on a few with the assumption that my overall shape won't change even if I go down a few sizes, and I wanted to know what kind of dress to look for. i know each designer and bridal shop will probably varry in time required, but how late on average can I leave it.
