The only advice I have is to be careful if you plan on doing a unity candle. Make sure its not too windy and keep your veil away from the flame!

In the far-off future (3 years, maybe) we'll be having an outdoor Handfasting (wedding) in the fall. We'll likely write it ourselves, as well. :)
You can make the ceremony as long or short as you like! Remember, it's YOUR day!

| I went to a friend's wedding last year which was on the beach outside (of course) and it was a traditional ceremony about an hour long, but it was beautiful with the crowd facing the ocean and the sun barely beginning to set. It depends on what YOU and future Husband want. I did read that if you have an outside wedding be careful of the perfume, lotion and body mist you put on, it could attract bees or flies.

| We're gettin married in November...in Southeast Texas so the weather could be perfect or hell....it changes so fast here...but our minister is my aunt and she is Methodist and we are Baptist....our preacher at our church was gonna do like an hour ceremony...but I wanted my aunt to do it and she said it will only last about 30 mins tops...that is walkin everyone in (grand parents, parents....) unity candle, songs, and walkin out!!! So it really depends on what you want....do what makes you happy!

I am having an outdoor African wedding in November, we have people that make drapes for over the chairs instead of a tent. If you want I can send you the pictures they sent me and then you can ask your nearest decor company if they could make/have something like that for you. We are having an old South African Ceremony, which is about 45min to an hour long.
Congrats, and good luck!

| I'm an outdoor bride as well. You can still do the ceremony as you like. If you would like a long one then go for it :)

Ashley, I got married in Sept 05 and had a beauitful garden wedding. It was decorated, I wore a gown and had 2 flower girls and 2 ring bearers a maid of honor and best man. My husbands step mom is a minister and she performed the ceremony. We had it catered. It was beauitful. Take a look at my spark page. I have pics on it. Let me know and if you want I can email you more pics. Kim

| I think you can have any kind of ceremony that you want! I'm getting married outside in June and we are planning about a 30 minute ceremony. I think that if there is shade and water then the heat shouldn't be too much of a problem. If it rains we'll have a tent!

We're having an outdoor wedding, indoor reception at the same site. I agree with everyone about making sure you have a plan B for bad weather, and giving everyone a place to sit down if you're having anything but a very brief ceremony.
Our wedding will be in August (8-30-08), so I'm not wanting to have a 45 minute ceremony while our guests roast in the sun... heheh. Aside from the obvious rain worries, you might want to keep in mind that people probably won't want to linger outside if it's a freakishly hot or cold day. I think we will be alerting people that the ceremony is outdoors so they can dress/sunscreen appropriately.

I am also an October 6th bride and am wanting it to be outside at the reception site. I am planning short and sweet. If it is too cold, it will be inside. Who knows if the weather will cooperate or not?!?

| We are haveing our wedding outside a winery too. I think it's totaly up to you if you have a long or short ceremony. You might want to plan for a long one but have a short one on back-up incase the weather doesn't cooperate.

I'm having an outdoor wedding as well. We are skipping a traditional wedding setting, no aisle and such. The guy who owns the winery where we are having ours said it always seems to be hard to get people to sit down for the ceremony. But that could be because the wedding and reception happen in the exact same area.
If your areas are separate and clearly designated I don't think you should have any problems. You can have what ever type ceremony you want. It's your wedding!
Enjoy!

| I think as long as you have chairs for people to sit in, it doesn't matter if the ceremony is inside or outside in terms of time. It seems like it would only be an issue if people had to stand for an outdoor ceremony - then you might want to keep it short :)

| Congratulations! Just wanted to dittto the plan B part... You just never know with the weather... indoor/outdoor shouldn't matter as long as all are dresses for teh weather... Not sure where you are but in VT Oct 6th might be hot or cold depending...

| Hi! I'm having an outdoor wedding, too. The ceremony should be the same as for an indoor wedding. You can do pretty much anything outside that you can do inside! It is always good to have a 'plan B' in case of rain, though. I'm hoping that since I'm prepared maybe I'll get lucky and not need my plan B! Good luck with everything!

| I don't have ceremony advice, but I am a fellow 10-06 bride and just wanted to say hi and welcome! ;)

Hello everyone.....My fiance and I are getting married in October, 10-6 to be exact, and we have just decided that we are going to do an outdoors wedding. We are going to get married at the same place that is holding our reception, it is a beautiful, fancy, golfcourse. I found out today, that they only charge an extra $300 to reserve the outside location and the plan B patio site - they also set up the chairs...etc...
I was wondering, is it possible to still have a ceremony type wedding or since it is outside, does it have to be short and sweet?
If anyone has any advice or tips they'd be appreciated!!
~Ashley
