| May 27!! I booked everything in March and I had no problems

We are getting married this year, 5/26/07 and had no problems, but we are getting married in Hawaii, the Big Island. The cermony is on a public (but not busy) beach, and we just booked the recpetion at a hotel, with no problem, I thought for sure it would be hard to find a place.
My advice, like others said, if you are not flexible on the day, then finding a less popular place. I am so surprise that for a 2008 wedding places are booked! I work in event planning, and many places, mostly hotels don't even plan out more than a year.

I am!! 5/26/07. I don't know if it means more people will be able to attend or less because they have plans to go away.

| I am getting married 5/26/07, it's the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend. I started planning last June and had no problems...Sorry you are having some. Maybe try for a Friday night?

Maybe try a less popular venue, or a more intimate location that a lot of people don't know about? I just booked my wedding location last week for my May 27 wedding (the day before Memorial Day), and was suprised that it wasn't booked - a river boat at the Jersey Shore over opening beach weekend?! Score!

You happen to share a wedding date with me and my fiance. I'm not sure how much help I will be though. We are having the wedding and reception at my parent's house and gardens. That may not be doable for you, but if a friend or family member has beautiful gardens it might be something to consider - the bonus is the site then doesn't cost anything!
Baring that, you might consider local parks and lakes. Some of them have beautiful flowers which will also help cut the cost of flowers the big day.

Have you tried any public gardens or parks?
I am getting married labor day weekend but at a historic home owned by the park system. It's wonderful doesn't book up as fast and doesn't cost as much as some places.

My mother and I decided that we'd really like to do the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend - May 25, 2008. We knew it would be a hard day to get, and everything I've read says to book a year in advance. Well, we went venue-shopping yesterday, and most of the places already had events going on that day!
Any advice for planning events on that weekend? Have you ever had to go to a wedding on that weekend? Thankfully, we're going to be able to get that date, but I'm glad that we started looking as early as we did!
