Sounds like the potluck is a popular thing to do. I'm excited for ours because we can save a lot of money!

We're hoping to do it at Rock Bottom since it's our favorite place to eat and about a block from our apartment! We haven't really discussed that with his family though.

We are doing a BBQ/Potluck thing at a friends house. Basically all the in-towners can bring a salad or dessert and we will provide the meat. so should be fun, this way its cheap and we can invite mroe people!

We are having bbq in the breakfast room at the hotel we have blocked off rooms for our out of town guests. It is a fairly nice, new hotel, and the breakfast room closes off and is bigger than the meeting rooms, so it works better for us, plus it already has decor, instead of blank walls in metting rooms, and couches and seperate sitting areas for people to relax and talk. And then those that are out of town can just go up to their room when they are done.

My parents are payin for our wedding...EVERYTHING....and his mom said they may pay for the rehersal dinner...if not we said we may just get pizza (5-5-5 deal) or we are gonna go to a Mexican resturant in town and it will be "dutch treat" pay for your own!!! We can't afford to pay for a honeymoon and our entire wedding party to go eat....

My best friend just found out that her future inlaws won't pay for the rehearsal dinner and she's hit her budget from her parents with all the other wedding expenses, so she and I are getting together next weekend to make a couple of lasagnas. We'll stick them in the freezer for now so that they're ready to go plenty in advance. I'm going to host the rehearsal dinner at my house, so the day of we'll just have to pop the lasagnas in the oven, buy some bags of salad, some garlic bread and a dessert. So for not to expensive, she'll have a nice (but not fancy or expensive) sit down dinner.

One of the reception sites I'm looking at gives a HUGE discount on food for the rehearsal dinner if you also have it with them. So you could see if you could get some sort of deal like that. If I choose that site for the reception, that's what I'm going to do, because then we can decorate the hall the night before and make sure everything's how I want it while there's still time to fix it.

Since I am having two weddings (my fiance is from Turkey) we are picking up the tab for everything stateside, and they are doing likewise in Turkey. We aren't having a rehearsal, but I still want to have a rehearsal dinner because most of my wedding party is traveling in for the wedding. I plan on having our dinner at Buca di Beppo in downtown Minneapolis, it's a family style Italian resturant with garlic mashed potatos to die for! However, my finace doesn't like Italian so it might have to be changed!!

My fiance's parents are hosting our rehearsal dinner but we are doing it before the rehearsal. Our rehearsal is going to be at 7 pm so it would be too late for the kids and older folks to wait that long to eat. We are doing a buffet at Ripley's Aquarium in Gatlinburg, very casual. None of our families have met each other, either, since his folks live in Mississippi and mine in North Carolina. I think a BBQ at someone's house would be great or the pizza idea is a good one, too. I wouldn't think either of those would be terribly expensive, either. Good luck!!

We are just doing a BBQ at our house. We are not at all worried about the price, we just thought this would be more of an intimate setting. We have a lot of out of town guests and thought it would be nice if everyone could come over and see our new place. Plus we have a dart board and pool table which will be fun. We also have a lot of kids so this way it won't get to boring for them because we can send them out to the swingset.

We're deciding to do a BBQ at my fiance's parents' house. The reason why is firstly, it's going to be a lot cheaper for us, and secondly, I have a lot of family members that are flying in from England who haven't met my fiance's side of the family yet. We thought that it would be a great idea to have a relaxing dinner the night before where everyone could get to know each other, instead of having to be at the wedding the next day feeling uncomfortable around so many people they wouldn't know. I think it will also be relaxing for myself and my fiance because we won't have to worry about what time we have to be at a restaurant. We can just relax and enjoy ourselves!

we are also doing it traditionally, my fiance's parents are setting it up, and we arent at that point of planning yet so i dont know for sure where it will be yet. my best friend had hers at a pizza joint though cause her husband loves pizza and they too had to pay for it all. i think whatever works best for you and fits your personalitites. i am a pretty low key person, i would do a bbq, or bon fire type thing...that actually sounds really fun....but my fiance isnt so much like that....so i think ours will be quasi formal and at a restaurant. j

We're doing a pretty traditional rehearsal dinner.. The groom's parent's are hosting it at an Italian restaurant.

But, for our out-of-towners, we're hosting a hay ride the night before the wedding! We're going to have a bonfire and roast marshmallows and be low key!

I think a BBQ is a great idea- a couple of my friends did it that way and they had a blast!

What did you all do for rehearsal dinner? I really dont want to spend a lot of money on it. My parents are paying for the wedding and his parents dont have a lot of money so its on us. At first I thought about having a desert part afterwads since the rehearsal is at 7pm and the dinner wont probably start until 8pm but then Iwasnt sure if that was such a good idea. Someone mentioned having it at a house like a BBQ, and/or veggies/cheese, and/or pastas, and/or salads, but i dont know!!! What do you all think? Oh and I'll have about 3 children at the dinner and then I start worrying that 8pm will be too late for them! ahhhhhhhhh *screaming*
Thanks
