So far, we have 74 people invited. We have compromised at a guest cap of 150, which seems HUGE to me, but my fiance dubs "small". I wanted to cap the guests at 50, possibly 75. I don't even think I KNOW 150 people...

I think wedding guests should be our nearest and dearest... not our families!

Other than that, I'm happy with the way the plans are coming together. We've even got a color scheme now!

Good luck, all!

When we first started to plan the wedding the first time around. (It's been changed a couple times. Very long story.) We had a rough guest list of about 250 people and that wasn't including most of the childern because it was going to be during the school year.

When we changed it and moved it we were going to do a very small intimate wedding of about 30 people.

Now it's moving back up to the 200 range and that has alot to do with the people wanting to come see the baby along with us getting married. I just hope since we have so many bills from this past year, we'll be able to have a very decent yet inexpensive wedding.

Since I posted in December (then i reported 250 with no kids) it has changed to about 215 and that's with kids. We found out a lot of his family wouldn't be driving up...it's really sad.

At first I told the cater about 100 people. But now that the invites are out and I really started thinking about I is going to be more like 200 peolpe!! I am doing everything very low budget. I am sure I haven't even came close to 3,000$. My dress was only $50.00 on a great sale. My photogharpher is only $350.00. A friend is video taping it. the DJ is $400.00. The dinner is only $5.00 a plate. The Hall is only $35.00. I think the tuxes are costing me the most because our 3 sons are standing up in the wedding.

We're looking at inviting 240-250 people to hopefully have around 200 at our wedding. That just sounds so big, I just hope it doesn't seem too crazy the day of.

I keep hearing big numbers from a lot of people, but we are in no position to pay for that many people! We are staying under 100, hopefully paring it down to 80.

Im from Ohio and Im paying 25/pp for food, cake, pastry table, and hall. Alcohol not included. kids under 10 are 12.50 and 3 and under are free. Our guest list is around 200 including a lot of kids. Im thinking aprox. 3,500 atleast. If you ebay a lot of stuff you can save a bundle!!!! No matter where you are from!!!!

I am wondering where those of you who are able to spend so little money on your wedding live. I live just outside of Washington D.C. and a $10,000 wedding is VERY LOW budget. Even though I'm a DIY bride and we are only having 50 guests, I'm still spending $8,000. Where are you from?

$15,000 for a 3 entree meal, cake, dj, hall, church, dress ($800), favors, centerpieces, limo, photographer, liquor, rehearsal, 3 chocolate fountains. I'm doing wonderfully with that budget. Caterin for 450 people, with tax...is $5700. That's only $12 a plate. Plus china, linens, full wait staff, everything. Trust me, I'm doing everything as cheap as I can.

Yep! Totally. Especially as it's a buffet and not a plated meal. We've ended up going for a much cheaper caterer plus having canapes instead of a starter and doing our own light cheese/bread/sausage snacks later on in the evening. It just seemed crazy to us to spend that kind of money on one meal.

Mrs Jureczki, If $15,000 seems a lot you would have fainted when you got our catering quotes; £9,000 was the highest. In dollars that's over $17,000 just for food! We're not going for them but I was amazed at how much they quoted!

I ordered 125 invitations, so that is all we are sending out - but each invitation will be for at least 2 people and there are a bunch of kids too, so I really have no freaking clue!!

We have about 175. We both live in Florida, but my family is in NY so the wedding is there. We would have to have more people if it were in FL. Can't wait!

We are trying to keep it around 50 guests. We have invited about 65 people, but a few won't be coming. We lucked out because we don't really have any kids in the family, only my fiance's half sister who is 9. The rest are 18 and up!

Our budget is around $15000 also. I always thought I would have a small wedding so that I could spend more money on the details but life throws a curve ball sometimes. I really dont feel like it is my wedding anymore beause it just seems out of control. But I knew this going in, and he is the man I want to marry, so I guess you do what you have got to do.

Jessy-Anne..I'm pretty close to your number. Right now on our list we have about 525 people. We are expecting about 80% of them to be there. We both have huge families! And we are pretty much staying on our budget of $15,000 too. And that's with a 3 entree dinner on china & linens. Chair covers and all. It pays who you know I guess.

Hi guys!

We are inviting a lot of people - mostly from my fiance's side... but most of them are not coming. My fiance's sister is getting the month after us, and all of their out of town family will be attending HER wedding. It's a bit biased, I guess, since they'll be going to hers and not ours, but it will help us keep our wedding small, quaint, and only include the people closest to us (ie. immediate families, important extended family, close friends). So, we anticipate 40-45 people coming to our wedding. I like the intimate-ness of it!
ANDIJL

Yeah, I would love it if they could all come. We do have about 50% at least that are out of towners. Although, from what I can tell, many of them are planning the trip! the more the merrier :-)

ANDIJL - I wouldn't count on any rules like the 70% assumption. It can vary so much based on when your wedding is, do you have a lot of out of town guests, did you send save the dates, etc. Over 90% of our guests are in-town friends & relatives, so I know ours will be well over 70% accept rate.
My rule has been to plan as though 100% of your guests will accept. Theoretically, you're only inviting people you want to share your day with so you should be thrilled if everyone shows up! :)

At the moment the guest list is at about 200...But we are by no means done! Anyone know if the saying that about 70% of your list will come is accurate??

We just increased our guest list from 50 to about 75. Smallish, very manageable, and I hope enjoyable!
