| I asked my dad what song he wants

Hi everyone... Don't mean to sound like a sad case but my Dad and I were close but had a love hate relationship and when he died we weren't speaking and never got to make things right. I would have danced with him to Butterfly kisses because he used to give me Butterfly kisses. Maybe ask him if there are any songs that he likes... He might surprise you or have a song that reminds him of you...

| I have the same prob - my wedding is Oct 8th and that will be the most awkward part of the day - I can't remember the last time I even hugged my dad either. Any way, I chose Landslide by the Dixie Chicks (or you could go with the Fleetwood Mac's version but its a little faster)...

I know, that's how I feel. It is going to be so weird dancing with my dad. My dad and I were never affectionate. I couldn't even tell you the last time he gave me a hug, I must have been a little girl because I don't remember ever getting one. It's just going to be uncomfortable, I think. I'll probably cry through the whole thing, just because we were never very loving to eachother. I'm sure it will all work out though.

| I'm in the same boat as you Amber...heck I don't even know if my dad WILL dance...I'll have to talk to him about it. I've never even seen my dad in a suit, let alone a tux. I'm just hoping everything goes smoothly along with him giving me away and all! lol

| I was a terror as a child, so, I didn't want "Daddy's Little Girl" either. We used Louis Armstrong.

| I went through a similar situation. I don't speak to my bio father any more so my step father is stepping in as the father of the bride. We were discussing songs because many songs used for the dance are about daddy's little girl and all that. Wouldn't work since he just married my mom about 3 years ago. We decided to go with Louis Armstrong's What a Wonderful World. It's fitting without being so sappy.

I am really new to this site. In fact this is my first post but check out www.myspace.com/heartlandcountry
It is a really touching song and even though my dad and I aren't really close I still think it is fitting.

Ya know that's a good idea. I think I am worrying too much about this. I'll just find a nice song and that's what we'll dance to. Good idea and good luck.

I know how you feel, Im getting married on Sept. 9th of this year, and my dad and I are not close at all!I feel horrible about it, we used to be close when I was little, I was daddy's little girl, but somewhere while I was growing up, we just grew apart. But, my Dad is not a dancer...he didnt (or should I say wouldn't) dance at my sister's wedding, so I know it wont be an issue for me.
You could use a song that doesnt really have any mushy lyrics, or not any directly related to father/daughter relationship. Like "Forever Young" by Rod Stewart, or "Can you feel the love tonight" by Elton John...or is there any slow songs that you like? It could just be a favorite song of yours, that way it would still be special to you.

Hi, my name is Amber and I am getting married on May 5th, 2007. I am having a hard time finding a father/daugher song. My father and I are not close. I mean I love him and he has always been there but I am not a daddy's girl. I don't want anything too sappy about bouncing on my daddy's knee or him reading bed time stories becuz that just did not happen. Any ideas?
